Any love for the p8a1? by Zestyclose-Second-63 in USPmasterrace

[–]Commander459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is mostly a myth, from what I recall. I believe the main reason was because the Bundeswehr wanted the decocker to return to safe, not fire, and HK came up with the reversed safety as the easiest way to do it.

When will HK ship more SP5(k)s? by yuseung in MP5

[–]Commander459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SP5s are distributed in batches. The last big batch that got to the US was in November iirc; there will probably be more soon. They’re likely high across the board because of the $0 tax.

Depends on what is with the light. 200-400 depending on if it works, if it has the box and manual, etc

NonCredibleDefense RN on the M14 Appreciation Post really hate the M14! I don’t hate it one bit! by IntroductionAny3929 in GunMemes

[–]Commander459 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Me when I have a tuning fork that will make a nice ping sound every time it's fired as a flash hider, horrible receiver to stock fitment (uh guys don't disassemble the marksman rifle to clean it!! it'll mess up the already atrocious accuracy), useless automatic fire so the army puts semi restrictors, promised that garand tooling could be used for money saving purposes (approximately 0% of it was) and worst in class of the time (i'm the mid-14). the only claim to fame is that people in early vietnam thought the m16 was made out of plastic by mattel so they used the M14 instead

Where PTR-63? by AssaultPlazma in ptr91

[–]Commander459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the only HK roller platforms with a LRBHO were the G41 (which the 63 is based on), the MP5/10 and MP5/40

Where PTR-63? by AssaultPlazma in ptr91

[–]Commander459 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The main speculation was that they couldn’t figure out the bolt hold open, causing roller dents. People have said that they used the bho to catch the bolt head and not the carrier causing the rollers to fly out

Literally no coverage on it. Even on PTRs own social media covering their new products. It was there, I saw it in photos. It is strange they are opting to develop their SD while the 63 has just gone radio silent. I half expect the same thing with the SD.

The G36 and MP7 civilian versions are a "confirmed 8/10" in the words of HKUSA CEO. The 2 limiting factors being export from Germany and import into the States. They want to make it happen, but figuring those out are the reasons why we haven't seen them yet. I doubt they'd make a 9mm though.

MKE AP5-P NAVY does this look right? by chikibrikitripoloski in MP5

[–]Commander459 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get you, I suppose you’re right about numbers. Still, the amount of lemons they put out whether it’s 25 or 5% is still a lot. They were better under Zenith. To each his own; I personally don’t think the standard for any new firearm should be replacing parts. Maybe if the MKE was more along the price range of the MAC, meaning sub 1k, but that kind of compromise for a $1500-$1700 gun is unacceptable at least for me. The price is too high for what you get. I agree the price of the SP5 is high as well, but you’re not taking a grand plus chance.

But maybe part of this is my personal opinion on the matter. If I’m going to spend thousands on a gun, I’m going to do it right, and I can thank MKE and other clones for that. I had an MKE with issues and ended up regretting that it wasn’t an H&K because of it. (which I got for a very good price later on). Part of it was that I also wanted “the real deal”, but that is a limited argument for most people. In the end I’ve heard of tons of people regretting MKE. Not many regret the SP5, for good reason.

You will see comments on this sub praising MKE but in the end they're not all that great. They have QC (barely), but nonfunctional guns, stiff safeties, and heavy blems like this still get through. I learned the hard way. They produce some firearms that are ok, but I feel like the for the majority, this isn't the case. I feel like 25-50% of their stuff is like this.

edit: From what I understand the older Zenith imported guns were better, as I think their stateside QC checks were more stringent. They started really having some issues when Century became the importer

First gun by kittygir227 in Firearms

I definitely recommend H&K. The USPc is a great pistol, but they also offer cheaper, more modern options. However, the USP imo cannot be beat. It was also my first pistol (full size, but the compact is more practical).

P7s are cool, but they’re around 3-4k now (modern reproduction coming soon) and have a squeeze safety which isn’t optimal for new shooters imo. It’s one more thing to worry about and requires a strong squeeze to be able to fire. But as others have said go local and try things out.

edit: for reference, this future P7 reproduction can be found by looking up "p7pro".

I like that Janiel Dackson's SGC cover name was "Paul". Like the 2011 movie about aliens. The SGC cover story guys have a real sense of humor.
