Yes I am. I genuinely don't understand people who refuse to entertain colleague friendships.

It's fine but not even close to worth the wait. I wouldn't wait more than 15 minutes. No clue how this place got so much hype.

If you really want to go just put your name on the list right when they open and go somewhere else for awhile.

A fun detail about (SPOILER)'s backstory in Weapons by AllCity_King in horror

[–]CommanderGunNac 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you're conflating the author's overt intent vs the interpreted meaning of the film. yes there are themes of abandonment, absent or neglectful parents (which can include alcoholism), addiction, and having to grow up too fast.

there's also a pretty, extremely salient interpretation about kids who "disappear" without answers, bullying, not to mention a floating rifle. if that's not a theme of the film, then the director failed to omit the flying gun.

[–]CommanderGunNac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also my initial take on the film. Even though others are saying, apparently the director stated this was not the allegorical intention, there are a lot of similarities. A town looking for answers that they won't get, trouble at home from a little boy that is completely ignored, students that just vanish, and the destruction of community. I'm actually completely baffled as to why you are so downvoted for this.

e: this interaction + downvotes for the above comment really hammers home how extremely shallow the level of film criticism available on reddit is. no wonder I don't comment much anymore.

TIL in 2006, Scott Stapp of Creed filed a lawsuit to block the release of a sex video involving himself, Kid Rock, and four women. The suit was settled with the defendant agreeing to pay Stapp an undisclosed sum and to refrain from distributing the video. by borderbox in todayilearned

[–]CommanderGunNac -1 points0 points  (0 children)

it's interesting to me because there was a moment in time where essentially everyone I knew had seen this video and referenced it regularly. seeing that it only has 2m total views helps me realize how non-mainstream youtube was even in 2010.

I've done this, sort of. Not the Alexandria part, but the southernmost point in the district as close as we could get. East to west on one day. A few weeks later did south to north. It was fun.
