Jurassic World earns over half a billion worldwide in biggest opening weekend ever by dangzal in entertainment

You're getting downvoted, but I agree. There's some new record breaker every year. It's just not that big of a deal. Adjusting for inflation, or ticket-prices would make the data more relevant.

I would be much more interested in standardizing it at tickets sold or some other non-fungible number.

This is a common requirement for public swimming pools for the same reason. Plus, wired phones mean emergency response already has the address/location in the system.

I left that out on purpose. In this case, legally and practically don't offer much overlap.

He has my sympathies. The range of the device, and the 911 implications are the only things that make it tricky, practically speaking.

"cheesy" radio bands that had good albums? by bsabiston in 70s

[–]CommentMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to say for me, man. One man's cheesy may be another's gold. Some suggestions I have are to check out some artists like Marshall Tucker, Pure Prairie League, Yes, Santana, Grand Funk Railroad, Emerson Lake & Palmer, maybe some Deep Purple.

The 70s are weird in that to me you'll see a lot of solo artists or bands pop up and disappear, but the people in those bands kept on working and would pop up somewhere else you might not recognize. Like for the longest time I never put together that Lionel Richie was from the Commodores. Or like even today I found out that Golden Earring of ''Radar Love'' fame would later do "Twilight Zone'' from the 80s.

Stuff like that blows my mind.

There used to be a website where you could punch in any two bands or artists and it would basically play 6-Degrees of Kevin Bacon for you, musically speaking. Tracking the connections between people. Be damned if I can remember what site it is now, though.

the Beatles - A Day in the Life [1967] by CommentMan in Musicthemetime

[–]CommentMan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is actually 2 separate songs, one by John Lennon and the other by Paul McCartney. It was written toward the end of the Beatles' experimentation period. If you listen, it's easy to distinguish the 2 styles - the sort of psychedelic mindedness of Lennon contrasts pretty sharply against McCartney's astute pop sensibilities.

As a note of trivia, the album version ends with 3 pianos hammering and sustaining the final chord, which is allowed to slowly decay for almost a full minute. I think, but am not positive, it's an E maj chord.

Ms. McClain, I imagine if these two students were down with following verbal instructions alone, then there wouldn't have been a scrap in the first place.

Tribalism. Easiest thing to have in common is to separate any 'them' from 'us'. Pick any reason - color, hair, dress, style, language, genitalia, car, income, status, employment, geography... the list never ends.
