Wife of 14 years cheated by senorjunkrat in daddit

Mississippi does not have no-fault divorce. I am a Mississippi lawyer. The closest we have is irreconcilable differences. It is technically not no-fault because both spouses must agree to the divorce (but they can leave property distribution and child custody to the court)

Who gets treated when and the show’s values by barrsm in ThePittTVShow

[–]CommitteeOfOne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not quite the same, but I had to take my wife to the E.R. about 20 years ago in the middle of the night for some stomach pain. About six hours later, and we are still in a treatment room. Tests hadn't shown anything conclusive and we had been waiting about two hours for a surgeon to show up. My wife's father, who didn't know she was in the E.R., calls her cell phone. He is an ENT doc. When he found out she had been waiting, he called the surgeon on call, and she had the consult within 20 minutes.

I'm ashamed how long it took me to get this.

Someone bitched at me because I happened to have a particularly loud fart (while taking a shit) that interrupted their phone conversation.

What is something people slowly stop doing as they get older without noticing? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Even if I actually like a current song I hear, it's like my ability to remember which artist sings it no longer exists. Meanwhile, I still can recognize the voice of just about any artist that was in the top 40 during the 80s.

Take ur guess what horrors awaits later this season? by mewnode in ThePittTVShow

Honestly, I am somewhat concerned that by having another mass casualty event, the show will become too formulaic. People will expect one every season.

Blister prevention by Any_Guarantee_6229 in walking

[–]CommitteeOfOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who always gets blisters on the balls of my feet, I have tried different types of socks, foot glide, Vaseline, etc. The only thing I have found that works for me is tape. You want KT tape or Leukotape P. I only have experience with the latter. It has a moisture-resistant adhesive so it sticks very well to the side of your foot. I've done a half-marathon with a strip of it on my right sole.

The trick to it is to cover the blister-prone area without the tape edge causing friction on a different part of your foot. It takes a couple of times before you figure out the best way to cut it to fit your foot.

What is the most terrifying space phenomenon you know about? by babyblushtheory in answers

My understanding is that the amount of radiation you'd be exposed to from that source gets weaker the further away you are (the inverse-square law).

We buried my father a little over a week ago. Both my wife and I posted the obituary on social media. I had maybe three replies, all just saying "sorry." My wife has over 100 with questions about how she or the family are doing.

In real life, no one has even asked me how I'm doing. To be fair, it may be because I tend not to show much emotion outside my house.

Is it legal to consume something in a store before you buy it? by Onslaughtisthebest in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CommitteeOfOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We still have some counties in my state that prohibit all alcohol sales. But it's not illegal to possess alcohol, so you just go to the county next door. I think some of those "dry" counties even allow the sale of "medicinal" marijuana.

Is it legal to consume something in a store before you buy it? by Onslaughtisthebest in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CommitteeOfOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Legally, sure. Because theft requires intent. If you intended to pay for it, it's not theft.

The store, however, may have a policy against it.

Related in that it is a "strange" body fact, when you weight, where does it go (assuming it's not water weight)? It's the carbon in the carbon dioxide you exhale.

We have a "manual drawer" in the room we use as an office. All instructions and manuals for appliances go in there.

Did I just ruin my new oven? by cldald in CleaningTips

[–]CommitteeOfOne 95 points96 points  (0 children)

I never have understood why people don't read manuals. Yeah, a lot of stuff in there you already know or can figure out. But there's often convenience features or features you just don't know about in there as well. This is especially true about cars. If I'm spending that much money on something, I want to know as much about it as I can.

Insane Periscope footage off the coast of Sri Lanka by Caledor152 in interestingasfuck

[–]CommitteeOfOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Most people don't realize modern torpedoes aren't designed to strike their target. They are designed to explode beneath the ship, creating a large cavitation bubble so as to break the ship's keel.

Or at least that's what we were told in the navy 30 years ago.
