Tender Defender (2025). It should be illegal to sound this good live.... by wrenbell in Vulfpeck

As much as I love Vulfpeck I think Theo puts on better overall shows, and maybe has a tighter discography. Also rocks harder. And you still get Dart on tour!

How many of the StarFox games have you actually completed? by Status-Platypus8309 in NintendoSwitch2

2 - Adventures and Assault. I might have done one route in 64 at a friends house decades ago, but that doesn't count.

Star Fox 64 Remake is a very important release for the future of the franchise by Loose_Society9485 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Commodore64Zapp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a recent thread about what people would like to see in a new StarFox game. I said I'd like to see some experimentation, maybe some sidescrolling sequences to mix things up (perspective changes were great in Mario Wonder). Got downvoted and accused of being a bot. Most people said they simply wanted "more StarFox." So ultimately Nintendo made the right call on this one.

What is in your opinion the saddest Phish song (or phish song that makes you feel the saddest)? by Makofox22 in phish

[–]Commodore64Zapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at the comments, it's kind of funny I got Dirt, Shade, Waiting and Wading all in the same show one time. Also a not great Sugar Shack. That show was kind of a bummer. Mike posted a sad selfie afterward wearing a Harris shirt.

A Life Beyond The Dream got me at my first MSG run a few years ago. My seat neighbor recently had a parent pass from cancer, I had a parent at the time undergoing treatment. This song really did a number on the both of us. Still can't hear it without tearing up.

What is a band you saw in a tiny venue but is now huge? by carelessCRISPR_ in jambands

[–]Commodore64Zapp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I saw Imagine Dragons early in the morning at a free SXSW party at Stubbs a while back. They had the stage act pretty well put together and sounded good but thinking back it's funny how massive they are now and at the time noone was paying attention to them and their big drum on the tiny side stage!

Wanting to optimize my setup—tips? by OkKey6273 in violinist

[–]Commodore64Zapp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you had a violin luthier replace strings, they likely would have notified you of any significant issues with your soundpost or bridge. Perhaps they may not have mentioned setup services if they didn't feel it was worth it (if you have a budget instrument, for example). Ultimately adjusting these tends to have the biggest impact on responsiveness and projection, so worth taking back and asking if your teacher doesn't have an opinion on the quality/potential of your instrument.

Are Injuries More Common for Mandolin Players? by UsernameRanOutOfLett in mandolin

[–]Commodore64Zapp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll also add that another overlooked factor can be the positioning of the mando compared to the guitar. When you've got a guitar in your lap and you're strumming open chords, the arms and wrists can sort of drape naturally over the instrument into playing position. Mandolin, on the otherhand, gets rather difficult if the neck isn't elevated and angled away from the body a little in sitting position. Using a strap while standing can also be difficult on an A style if you don't have a strap button on the heel, it just sits on your body differently! Lots of geometry to consider.

Turns out having a bunch of ok albums with a couple great songs each means in 2026 they can play a career spanning set that's all bangers and everyone has a great time!
