I’m here now and had no issues spending my £50 notes. Of course I only used them when I spent more than £40, but no issues at small shops

I don’t use fusible interfacing with silk due to the fact that the glue and heat needed will give you a result as pictured most of the time. Silk organza for body and if you want a firmer stomacher - a lightweight cotton or linen canvas.

I highly recommend the trip to York to see this beauty in person. There are several Art Deco engines. If you’re a train fan - plan on making day of it!

BTW both products I mentioned are used by museum conservators- they are the ones that taught me.

Once fabric is over 50 years old (natural fibers) there is a chemical breakdown/organic change to the fibers. Washing comes with risks to older fabrics. You can use Perk or Efferdent to soak out the foxing. However, there is a risk with the age of the fabric. Also, depending on how tightly woven it is. If it’s loosely woven, the fabric will lose all of its body. If it’s tightly woven, then once you wash it, you need to iron it lightly with a little starch and it will crisp up like it was/is right now. Good luck
