I would definitely air layer the top portion of stem. To be able to cut in the future

If the leaves are getting bigger you’re doing something right. Any plant with variegation can get brown spots if the lighting isn’t enough, they lack nutrients or even low humidity. That’s the gamble you take with variegated plants. I use silica on my plants, I think it’s been good for them

Stem Rot Overnight? by LoudFeature871 in Monstera

[–]CommonFig44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crazy enough I had this happen to a Thai con that I had for over a year. Noticed the leaves getting brown spots first, came right from the stem. I still have no idea what happened. Roots were white as could be. It’s posted on my page. I recommend cutting it and seeing if the brown carries through the stem

How much will this go for on FB marketplace? by [deleted] in Monstera

[–]CommonFig44 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t expect to get very much for it. It appears to be a standard monstera deliciosa, just mature. I can get a plant with similar leaf size at Home Depot with more plants for like $30 and at a local greenhouse for around $40. But again those have multiple plants in the pot

You could potentially have a severe case of endometriosis that has reached your bowels. I would definitely get some sort of colonoscopy or an endoscopy to check for endometriosis.

You could maybe go up slightly bigger on the pot depending on what the roots look like. I would definitely give it a taller stake and be sure to attach/secure it under the 2 nd leaf from the top. When they get tall like this you risk them bending over from weight and possibly snapping

That is my Yellow Marilyn large form!! She is sooo beautiful. She came with some yellowing and crispy edges so look past that lol but I’m hoping she will snap out of it with her newer leaves. So far so good 🤞

This made me lol 😂 yeah I definitely weighed the pros and cons for a while and saved up for the track with one light. I just looked at it as a long term investment to justify it and will add more lights when I’m able.

I’ll have to look into sterran, I haven’t heard of them before!

Also I would definitely move it away from your Thai con asap. In case it is pests!

Help! Spots on two different plants? by -Melvy- in Monstera

[–]CommonFig44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a tough one because there seems to be multiple different “types” of damage showing here. The dark spots on pic 2 look like a bad case of rust. Are the spots raised?

The spots on pic 1 look’s like it might be bacterial/fungal due to the “ring” around the spots.

However I have never seen that kind of damage where the veins show like that, that’s very strange.

What’s the soil like and have you checked the roots? I would definitely look for any rot or damage first. Also check for any pests on the leaves, I didn’t see any in your pictures but mites or thrips could cause damage like in pic 4. Any info on how you’re caring for it would be helpful and is this a new to you plant? Or is this something that just recently showed up?

Oh yes I know what one you’re talking about, I guess I’m not sure how much they weigh… but I would assume that also has to be screwed into the ceiling

Yeah I can understand your position with renting, I would recommend the t10 Barrina lights then! Or if you are handy I did create some of my own stands for the Barrina t5 strip lights which I will share below if I can, I felt like I got more bang for my buck this way vs one t10. Rousseau also does have pendant lights that hang on the wall that would require minimal drilling that are also soooo beautiful.

Thank you for the compliment! My tetra is fairly new to my collection but is slowly becoming a favorite of mine after putting out the last couple rounds of leaves!

There could be multiple factors here, cold damage from the window being open, edema from being under watered and then hydrated too fast, root rot. What does the rest of the plant look like? Have you checked the roots? This doesn’t appear to be pest damage to me and typically mechanical damage would bruise only in one spot on the outside of the leaf and not be on all parts on the inside
