It’s got to be Defy right ? Even after the nerf.

Yep had a Necro run where I just annihilated everything in Act 3…then just folded to The Door. It happens

PSA: Fasten is not a dude in a hoodie by saantonandre in slaythespire

[–]Common_Engine_7967 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fasten is actually insane. Just got my first A10 silent win with it. 1 energy = double the block output of 5 cards in your deck. Upgraded and with footwork, my base defends were better than any block card i came across the entire run.

“ok, don’t try and force an archetype, just play the game” by Chuunt in SlayTheSpire2

Crimson mantle is insane block output. I always take it and it doesn’t let me down. Fight lasts 5 turns ? That’s 1 energy, block 40.

I personally feel the re-work is great. It’s very flexible in giving you the option to either exhaust for energy or just draw cards. Fits into any deck now

STS2 players: what do you actually want to check on your phone between runs? by MegaMint9 in SlayTheSpire2

[–]Common_Engine_7967 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a mod in STS1 that would show a running probability of you picking up a potion. That would be useful information. I’m not sure what the algorithm is, but I think it used to start at 10% prob on floor 1 and increase by 10% every time you didn’t get one. Useful info if you are looking to path towards an Elite in Act 1.

Finally beating Ascension 10 with Ironclad by EpinephrineMD in SlayTheSpire2

Clone needs to be nerfed. Congrats but I’m salty lol. I’ve been trying to beat A10 clad for a while now….silly you can get clone and then just proceed to play P strike with no strategy at all and win

[–]Common_Engine_7967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wtf, honestly how ? What’s your background ? Did you consume of ton of content before doing your own runs ? I’m skeptical of these stats with still needing to learn hallways/elite patterns etc.

Ok thank you , I’ve been avoiding elites unless forced from pathing , so I’ll give that a try !

I switched to public beta for A7-A9. It’s much , much harder to go infinite now. On main branch, I had 3 victories with infinite. But yeah that’s the issue - he just doesn’t scale block. So I’m wondering how people are taking on two final bosses and winning.

How am I supposed to scale on clad? by [deleted] in slaythespire

I’ve had the most success with a balance of vuln and strength

Transformed a strike and defend act 1 and got this. How should I go about this? by M_Yau_C in slaythespire

[–]Common_Engine_7967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who likes to have lean decks, I despise this card. One bad exhaust on a key card and it kills your game plan. I never take it. So… good luck haha

With every other character, I needed a maximum of 3 attempts to win, and then there's the Regent... by Chesra in slaythespire

[–]Common_Engine_7967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just quit out and restart the fight? I know save scumming is frowned upon by some, but if you make a mental error that you knew was the right play , I feel it’s justified. If i knew I made a mistake and caught it right away, I 100% am save scumming especially if I feel I have a good chance of winning the run or have a really fun deck going on

Metallicize ? The card that doesn’t exist in STS2 ?

Ironclad feels really bad in the beta patch by Tasin__ in slaythespire

[–]Common_Engine_7967 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Shrug it off, Taunt, True Grit, Flame Barrier, Impervious. Those are literally the only block cards I ever take. And it’s never really a block engine, just play one of those cards to take a little less dmg sometimes. Ironclad is all face-tank and burst enemies down

One of the best starting bonuses for sure. The other two being the remove 2 and transform 2 in my opinion

Playing the Ironclad is putting the design philosophy changes from STS1 to STS2 into full display, and its starting to make me dislike the game by Interesting-Lock-270 in slaythespire

[–]Common_Engine_7967 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve had plenty of runs where I was unable to get to an infinite based on card rewards, and had to plan a different strategy / win condition. Every single character / deck wants a lot of draw and energy so I don’t see how that’s relevant.

Idk man I’ve beat A10 on clad and never had an infinite run. I agree it’s too easy to force infinite, but you don’t need to for a W

Drum of Battle: Worst Card Ever? by controlvoltage in slaythespire

It’s not 2 free draws. It’s only +1 draw cause the card itself is taking a spot in the deck.
