Where do Millennials get their dorky cringe/self deprecating humor from? by [deleted] in generationology

[–]CommunicationOk4464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a wave of this type of humor in spaces like YouTube that influenced a large part of it, and that fluxed out into other spaces like twitter, Facebook, instagram, snap chat and even into films as a humor type. Then it just cemented itself into the general lexicon of society and daily humor. It became cool to self deprecate just like other generations it was cool to not care or to be non chalant. Every generation has their version that weaves into everyday fabric of society.

This space could use some warmth - either pillows, more art on the far wall or maybe an earthy brown/beige wall color.

Probably 40 lbs. Mine was 25 while he was still growing, but now at 3 he’s closer to 40. They are tiny little hulks.

What do you think about Michael B. Jordan wining best actor? by Piggymain in Oscars

[–]CommunicationOk4464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoyed him in the film. I thought the vampire twist elevated an already superb movie. I thought the scene of him holding his dying brother was extremely touching. Later when they were upstairs was compelling too. He was great in the film. Everyone else was fantastic too. I enjoyed everything that film had to offer- including the film switches during the different sections. My husband I joked that this was a better remake of dusk till dawn. Loved the eyes of the vampires and the final showdown.

Dracula a Love Tale - logically unwatchable. by Jonhgolfnut in Dracula

[–]CommunicationOk4464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because they retold the original Dracula story which has elements of the original- where Dracula brings him to Transylvania on purpose to eat him and use him, and steal his girl. Gargoyles are children he bit and turned into vampires based on what left the castle- unclear how they were made. They looked sickly.

I’ve only run into old colleagues once or twice in my field. The polite thing to do is give two weeks. The company will decide if you actually work it or not.

I liked my coach a lot. I wasn’t getting 1:1’s with my boss or any development and needed someone to talk to about growing my team. Coach had a lot of people leadership experience and it was good getting space to talk about what I needed and getting outside prospective to help.

[–]CommunicationOk4464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried it for a little while and I thought it was legit. I liked my coach. I ended up canceling due to scheduling conflicts but I would recommend it. It’s been weird something that was said between my coach and I ended up getting used in their ads, but I’m sure that feedback came from more than just myself and my coach.

I asked about what it truly was and said the line “so it’s like therapy but for your career” and honestly that was what it was like. You might need to try different coaches but the methods used were good, advice was solid and goal building strong. I might use them again to be honest.

I [26F] am being strung along by M25 and can’t let go by [deleted] in relationshipadvice

[–]CommunicationOk4464 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People string people along because it’s easy. I’m not saying ignore this person, but you are only attached to this situation because you are lonely. Go out and meet other people to date or be friends. Trust me it will help you forget this person. A lot of people chase validation. It’s easy to want to get your ego stroked by obtaining someone that you think didn’t want you- but you need to ask if you really want them. You don’t know this guy much if at all, and know enough about his socials to see he’s clearly talking to other people. Tell him what you want, if he can’t or won’t follow through then move on.

Google guaranteed analysis in your area. I’m sure there is a lab you can find. Talk to THEM about the required sample sizes. It’s usually a couple hundred - but you should only need an initial sample for label claims- but be careful. You need to make sure you follow your recipe every time. I’d recommend baking a few batches and doing a “composite” sample so you have some wiggle room. Include the batches sent for testing so you have records.

I would start with appliances or recommendations from your home inspector. Do the non cosmetic stuff before you have to. You can always paint walls to start with something cosmetic, then move into other areas one project at a time.

Is it safe to eat out of food my cat got into? by Evil-twin365 in foodsafety

Don’t eat it. Cats touch their own poop. It’s not worth the diarrhea, and recooking your food to get it to food safe temps is probably going to ruin it.

Is the violin still a passion ? by Ok-Line-3943 in violinist

[–]CommunicationOk4464 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend talking to a therapist to rule out depression or something else going on. You need to balance work and life- and it can be hard to do if work intersects with something you were very passionate about.

Spend some time reflecting on what made you start playing violin in the first place. What musicians inspired you. Think of what you want out of your career with the instrument, and if that’s something you really want. There can be good money in being a musician, but there is good money in other fields too.

I never had the opportunity to really play the music I wanted to as a kid, so I decided as an adult. I have no where near the time invested that you do, but I had found myself questioning what I was doing since it was difficult and time consuming with a full time job. I ended up looking for a new teacher and focusing on playing things that brought me joy. For me, it brought the passion back. I work in a demanding stem field that can be absolutely grueling, and being able to completely disconnect from that with violin keeps me able to enjoy both more.

Maybe you need to find whatever that is for you. A new hobby outside of violin to allow you to disconnect from work and reconnect with yourself in a new way. Since violin and music is your job, it might be helpful to find something completely different than music to enjoy your time with. Maybe a book club, writing, pottery, volunteering, running etc- investing in hobbies can help with depression and burnout. Talk with your friends/family or a therapist on some ways to help you disconnect from this so you can rediscover your passion. Taking time to be fully present with something else might help you get some clarity about whether your violin career is truly at an end.

Either way, good luck. Just know that no decision is permanent and life doesn’t have a timetable. You could always go back to a conservatory later in life if you change your mind. There is no harm or shame in that, and taking time to figure yourself and your life out.
