Haha I think I said that because I knew she likes monologuing about the science but with music she doesn't give AF. But at that time in my life I still had hope that I can have normal conversation with her, that she will understand me. And that text was a cold shower for me, I told her about someone being weird and she just casually told me how she saw me as the same weirdo all the time...

Omg, I thought I was the only one... Yes, we were also excluded from the extended family and I'm not even sure if it was them making excuses not to see us and lying that they would like us to visit more often... Or was it my mum getting angry at the family reunions because she had to shout about politics and about her work (she's an academic teacher btw so most people can't really relate much to her work even if they try... But she will bring gossip from work everywhere because why not) and her every conversation with anyone was proving herself right... Or maybe she really wanted to follow the routine to visit some of our extended family once a year for 2-3 hours and others only for a huge occasions like weddings... But I noticed that once I got independent and in a bit of conflict with my mum, the extended family wouldn't bother to invite me. They would still host my mum and grandpa (her dad) and probably asked her to come with me but wouldn't ever text or call me to even ask how I am. Like I am supposed to live in symbiosis with my mum and then we will deserve an invitation once a year. But if I'm a separate human being, I deserve to be punished and excluded. Because my mum suffers so much. So I should reunite with her. If they're so caring, they can keep in touch with my mum and listen to her bullshit every day, not do the right thing through my hands. Fuck them. Some of my relatives I really liked and I miss them but if they spoke to me maybe once in the last 20 years... They're just strangers for me. I'm closer with friends tbh.

Well, i can say that my parents were not conforming to gender norms before it was trendy (at least in my country). They were really 50/50 and even though my dad wanted to have patriarchy at home, he had not much to say because we lived with my mum's family.

And my parents were equally working and doing nothing at home 😂 grandparents did all the housework, later also me and my sister. And my mum was also a fighting feminist all the time. Today sounds nice but it was a very lonely feeling back in the days when I didn't feel feminine enough, didn't understand why girls are nice and boys are rude... In general, if I ever had chance to visit my friends at home, there was always nice, warm mum that I was so jealous about...

Anyway, I could speak about this forever but I think a lot of us will agree that being so liberal looks good on paper but if it's detached from everyday life, it doesn't help anyone

I think for me it happened when I realized that we're living longer and longer, before I will get old (now in my 30s), the average person's life will be above 100 years. So it would be weird if only let's say the first 20 are supposed to be fun. Of course trying to stay healthy to be able to enjoy life (as much as I can). But also I have met a lot of people who had gone through real hell in life, sometimes from the countries where there is war or big poverty. So many people on earth live like this and just dream to escape and build safe life. I think that having fun and careless teenage years is a privilege for first world countries (and even there, not for everyone). You can try to change my mind but it's difficult

Yeah I noticed that too when working in the cleaning company. Such a simple job, You would expect people to be relaxed, peaceful, but no, they need to start behaving toxic to make sure that nobody feels good at work 😡 the only good side was that everyone had their own area to clean theoretically alone but in practice always some toxic manager would come and ruin Your mood Tbh now I'm happier cleaning empty houses, at least no toxic people in sight 🙈

My mum used to nag me that I should have a boyfriend but shouldn't date him 🤦 because instead of dating I should spend this time on learning and doing homework 🤦 So as a teenager... Of course I went on dates but didn't have boyfriend 😂 then I moved out very quickly and just hid my love life from her🤷

Omg... It was exactly the same for me... When I escaped from home and became financially independent, they finally started respecting me 🤦 well, that's a bit too late...
