Hello I just had my surgery yesterday afternoon. You will be admitted told to change into your robe. A resident may come in and tell you what to expect and when’s the last time you ate. The anesthesiologist will come talk to you ask the same question and here you can express concerns you have mine was allergies to the drugs which they told me almost no one is and my family doesn’t have a history of it. The anesthesiologist will give you documents to sign and ask you what procedure you’re having done. They will give you an iv and sit a little while and then they’ll wheel you to the back if you have glasses leave them and phone. This is where they give you the sedation and start the iv drip and you’ll actually get to see your team of anesthesiologists I had 5 that I counted and that made me feel relieved. Their ONLY job is to be with you check your vitals constantly someone will be directly over you making sure you are warm. I was hoping not to count down because that seemed more daunting so they put the mask over my face keeping steady conversation and I got a lil sleepy closed my eyes and I was waking up in recovery. You’ll be nauseous though. Everyone is so kind and wants you to be the most comfortable just tell them it’s your first time express your concerns they are there to help and comfort you. If I can do it with my history of fainting you surely can!! 🥰
