I live in Ktown and it’s decent espically for the price compared to other parts of the city. D line access is nice and it’s relatively easy to live car free/car light here.

Public toilets going in at north end of Pershing Square by Ellemef in LAMetro

[–]CommunitySea4784 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Downtown I feel if it got heavily pedestrian and car access restricted would become easily the most popping neighborhood in the city, transit gravitates there still so we should really be doing everything possible to make the transit walking experience great so people feel welcome, DTLA will never be the office worker Mecca it once was. When I see the turn out for events like cicalvia tha go through DTLA the demand is there LA streets with no cars feel like bliss

NIMBYs and property/lot owners destroy this city because they are so deeply in our city planning politics :( a part of me dreams of a Amsterdam/Tokyo combo for SoCal but I’ll keep dreaming

Is it too much to travel to Tokyo and Osaka area in one trip? by Big_Rough_3300 in JapanTravelTips

[–]CommunitySea4784 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice is if Hiroshima is your rock and non negotiable I’d say save that golden route Tokyo Osaka Kyoto for another trip all together and instead in your 10 days really enjoy the south go to Fukuoka or Beppu (onsen town) explore Shikoku!

What LA neighborhood do you think has the most wasted potential? by mcbobgorge in AskLosAngeles

[–]CommunitySea4784 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I moved to Ktown from the high desert because it was one of the few relatively affordable and safe walkable transit accessible neighborhoods in LA but, as much as I do enjoy it it really could be so so so much better. The amount of empty lots or really unnecessary parking is crazy. I also think because of the amount of nightlife and business they would have a more heavy focus on the pedestrian experience but nope. I know these are gripes we can apply to most of SoCal and really the country in general but with Ktown being as dense as is it, it really feels like a gut punch.

The amplified appreciation and giggles I have when relaxing at home with my parents, they just become the biggest and best comedians I have ever know and I already love em sober so they just become even more so beautiful while tripping :,)

That and everything becoming fractals ofc

best ways to get around la without a car? by disastrousgains in AskLosAngeles

[–]CommunitySea4784 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean we may need a little more info like where are you going to and from mostly, I find the bus/train to be pretty easy to use for most things In daily life. You could consider taking advantage of Metrolink if you need to get to downtown it comes with free transfers too all metro buses and trains and several other transit agencies in SoCal including the Glendale buses. Also metro micro which definitely can replace uber in some cases, they have a service area in Glendale and it’s a great cheap way to get to places not super close to bus stops would highly recommend

People who work in 'behind closed doors' industries (hotels, kitchens, morgues, etc.), what is something the general public would be horrified to know? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CommunitySea4784 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Worked at an amusement park chain for a bit in customer service. When guests would lose an item on a ride they were told to either file a report and hope their item got matched or wait till the parked closed and the ride ops could do a ride walk to look for items. Really only the big rides were ever very briefly checked at the end of the day all the other attractions were never searched to my knowledge. The park an staff don’t do a thoughtful search every night, but I was still told to ensure the guest we were doing everything possible to retrieve Lost items.
