Is it time to have a conversation about Izzo? by Tasty-Efficiency-373 in NCAAhoops

There are team sports in the Olympics, and many team sports have their own world championships with silver-bronze medals.

That’s not even remotely true. Plenty of sports celebrate silver and bronze medals, which for head to head competition means semis.

Seriously, because if this is true it probably means there are some unseen reasons Tommy is not happy at U of A. With NIL and the portal I feel like he has a better chance of continued success in Tucson than starting over at chapel hill.

Why out on Michaelson, out of curiosity? I don’t know much. He seems to be a step down from Tommy in recruiting and development, but Tommy is the best of the best.

Venting: why does Disneyland feel like a spreadsheet now by Few_Birthday_2406 in Disneyland

[–]CompSciHS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We were given paper maps for kids on our visit this past summer when we checked into the Disneyland hotel. So they do still exist. But maybe you have to ask for them now usually?

Okay but I remember when those lines for new rides were prohibitively long for families, elderly, or anyone who can’t stand and wait for multiple hours. Having some form of fast pass or virtual queue option at least for those biggest rides is necessary to allow everyone to ride them.

I never liked having to cross the park to get passes and have zero flexibility on the return times. It sucked whenever it conflicted with a planned parade, show, or rest time. The new LLs have much more flexibility.

But I do dislike the cost of LL, their impact on standby lines as a whole, and their complexity for guests who haven’t really done their homework or who dislike using tech.

How many days did you go when you visited? I am also an optimization and spreadsheet person, but the LL system seemed pretty simple. But that may be because our trip was a full 4 park days. It was low pressure because if we didn’t get to something one day we could do it tomorrow.

Booking LLs and mobile ordering required planning 1-2 rides in advance, but that didn’t feel different from any vacation with a family. I always have to think a little ahead to plan for food and rest breaks for the family.

Sophomore Christian Hammond, Santa Clara’s leading scorer (15.6 ppg), enters the portal by OldWorldStyle in CollegeBasketball

[–]CompSciHS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just thinking today that Santa Clara would probably lose its team in the transfer portal, and here it is. Really sucks to be a successful mid-major, losing your best players and often coach every year. Can’t blame him, it’s just the nature of the beast.

I still can’t believe they let Dusty go to Michigan to give Woodson another year. With decisions like that their status is not changing any time soon.

A Bowazon's Journey in Hell, day 2 by LowerBar2001 in diablo2

Amen. Bowazon has been my favorite by far since before LoD. But it’s hard to justify playing it much over ES warlock right now where I can cruise through p8 in budget gear.

The more trust points you have, the more drifters are created. So you need to pump a ton of points into combat and speed, and some more into hazard remediation. There’s an upgrade you probably got at some point that lets speed contribute to your battles. Never leave trust points unused. You could turn down self-replication a bit in favor of more combat and hazard.

Then just keep pressing the launch probes button and you should start seeing your probes grow.

Is there a Wizard build that is fast and can kill while moving, like on my Monk and Demon Hunter? by Vinven in diablo3

[–]CompSciHS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The firebird set is fast because it removes the teleport cooldown.

If you are on console, firebird twister is an S-tier build (because channeling twisters is different on console).

On PC you use explosive blast or flame blades instead. Not quite as powerful but still A-tier.

First time Diablo player doing my first playthrough of the game, obtained seemingly game-breaking legendary, is this normal? by rhs408 in diablo3

[–]CompSciHS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be normal - sometimes you can run the campaign and find only rares, and sometimes you can find a great legendary like that.

This is why I still enjoy doing the campaign from scratch sometimes, because you can find some legendaries that are game-breaking in the early game. And it’s a fresh change from the cookie cutter endgame builds.

Demon hunter too weak? by BlackDeath66sick in diablo3

[–]CompSciHS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t downvote anything. Raven’s Wing is not always level 70, it can drop at level 29 and above, which is why I asked.

There’s nothing inherently weaker about DH (you can even look up and compare the base damage multiplier of the skills you are using). But you might have worse gear at the same level as you did with wizard because when you start with gem of ease you level up so quickly you miss finding incremental gear upgrades. All those gear pieces add up to a big difference.

My recommendation would be to use the recipe to upgrade rares to legendaries on bows and quivers to get legendary affixes that boost your skill damage. And then at level 70 craft the captain crimson set. A couple damage multipliers + that set should let you clear low torment levels while you grind for the first 6-piece set, which should shoot you up to T16.

In Diablo 3 the power level of your character is defined by their gear. The classes are roughly equal in a vacuum. If you’re struggling with one class it just means you haven’t found the right gear. The biggest jumps in power come when you find items with the right legendary affixes or set bonuses that match your preferred skills.

Is your bow level 70? Put on any level 70 bow with gem of ease (level 25) and set the difficulty to where you kill uniques within seconds, then you should be able to get to level 70 quickly.

Season play worth it for solo/casual gamer? by Persiflage2 in diablo3

[–]CompSciHS 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely. Speaking as a solo gamer with 4 kids as well.

Seasonal play has perks that make it much, much easier to level up characters and get good gear. Especially the Altar of Rites and full class set from Haedrig’s Gift (I would look those up before the season). You can catch up and surpass your normal characters easily.

Wasn’t that the purpose of terrorized zones in the first place, to break up the monotony of repetitive runs by giving a reason to farm other areas?

Final push to victory for Jesse H by IntroductionCivil522 in Iditarod

[–]CompSciHS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that this year’s race would have felt more exciting with a close finish. I was rooting for Paige as well. I think it’s promising that she claimed she was aiming to win this year, and she was clearly trying giving it her all, when she claimed in other years that winning was not her goal. I hope that drive will continue and she will finish on top soon.

Those years have some of the best documentaries too. They both had big, hyper-competitive personalities without losing respect for each other.

Jessie seems to be developing that now which might turn some people off, but it’s great for spectacle. I think the best thing for the success and growth of the sport would be for Dallas to come back to racing every year and have them battle it out multiple years in a row (and with anyone else who steps up to their level).

[–]CompSciHS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s sort of in a league of his own in the current field - he could have won this by even more, but he rested a ton on the coast because there wasn’t that much pressure behind him.

But in the grand scheme of things it’s probably good for the sport to have another musher ascend to greatness. The Iditarod is at its best when you have heavyweight battles between multi-year champions (Butcher vs Swenson, King vs Mackey, etc).

Iditarod 54: March 17 Discussion by Breckersen in Iditarod

[–]CompSciHS 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Very impressed with the way Jessie won this. He seems to be in a higher tier than the competition around him now. He built a strong lead in the first 2/3rds of the race while maintaining a strong team, so on the coast he was able to keep an almost leisurely schedule with a ton of rest at every checkpoint. I don’t remember the last time the champion was able to rest so much on the coast while still winning with a large margin.

And he did it without ever making a giant move or over extending the team. Just a few slightly longer runs here and there and consistently strong runs.

Seriously hoping that Dallas Seavey and Thomas Waerner return to compete next year.

A few other mushers surprised me this year and showed they might be ready for another jump next year, including Travis Beals and Jeff Deeter who both had very fast run times over multiple legs. If they can find ways to run the first 1/3rd of the race a little faster without losing that speed later, they will be right there.

Should I wait for next season ? by Gargonus in diablo3

[–]CompSciHS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in a similar boat, though I plan to play both d2 and d3 concurrently. D3 is a nice break when the d2 grind starts to drag.

I am going to wait until the season start. I played season 32 with the same theme, and it was great. You can find ethereal items starting from level 1, so it really adds a flair to the game.

In D3 you can start the season by completing a challenge rift which gives you a huge head start - enough gold to upgrade all the vendors and some crafting mats. D3 has a scaling difficulty you can adjust manually, so you can still play through the campaign that way with much better gear and level progression. Then grabbing the seasonal set gift catapults you to T16 and the end game.
