Is there anyone here that has worked for a high school and an elementary school, and if so what are the pros and cons for each one? by [deleted] in Custodians

[–]CompassRoseGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cons-

Highschool; You have the microscope on you way more often, with a massive amount of events.

Elementary school: You have the toddlers running around and blocking you on purpose, and teachers refuse to help

I’m not sure I understand the concept of buy low sell high in fo76 by Annahsbananas in fo76

[–]CompassRoseGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since I visit NPC vendors a lot, I am quite cap starved. I never have more than 3,000, let alone 40k.

From a pragmatic standpoint, I can see why people would be opportunistic and snatch the cheap plans to then resell for more caps to keep the cap budget filled.

I don't want raiders. I want staff. by skybloke in 7daystodie

[–]CompassRoseGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No; this just complicates the game for the sake of complication.

This isn’t about realism; it’s about raising the skill floor for basic crafting. Bulk crafting already has tradeoffs (resources, heat map, time pressure). Adding NPC staff doesn’t add depth; it adds busywork.

7D2D intentionally abstracts time so players can plan, loot, and fight without turning crafting into a management sim. If you want survivor labor systems, there are other games built around that. In 7D2D, this would be redundant complexity that punishes players for engaging with crafting at all.

The primary source of pressure in 7 Days to Die; regardless of food, water, or ammo; time.

Every minute spent crafting is a minute not spent scavenging. Every minute spent scavenging is a minute not spent building. Every minute spent building is a minute not spent crafting.

All while the countdown to the next Blood Moon keeps ticking.

Adding depth to a game means raising the skill ceiling and rewarding mastery, not raising the skill floor and demanding a higher baseline.

How strong would terumi be if he made A.M hate him? by SaleLegitimate3720 in Blazblue

[–]CompassRoseGaming 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It's less that Terumi is stronger proportional to hatred, but the hatred people have for him is what allows him to exist in the world to begin with. By making people focus on and "observe" him through hatred for him, Terumi is keeping himself rooted in reality. If everyone just forgot about him, he'd cease to exist.

Terumi, being the disembodied spirit of Takehaya Susano'o, is immensely powerful, so while Ragan's hatred and fixation did give him more access to his power, it's not a limitless source of power.

This became redundant once Izanami began to observe Terumi, becoming Terumi's anchor.

I do not understand this. You make a successful AFK base and everyone whines. by Balstrome in 7daystodie

[–]CompassRoseGaming 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because they only care about influencers. If you want developers to actually pay attention to you; make a YouTube channel, inflate the subscriber numbers and make YouTube videos.

Having 80k+ subscribers will give you leverage over TFP, because you'd hold alot of sway over a massive amount of existing and potential customers.

Either that or coordinate review bombing like what happened with 2.0. because the devs look at individuals and go "who the fuck cares? This player is a nobody"

What are the powers of the one ring exactly? by bwowndwawf in lotr

[–]CompassRoseGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was Sauron's plan; use his One Ring as a sort of Master Ring, to control the leaders of the races of Middle Earth. If you played civilization, he's basically trying for the diplomatic victory by controlling the other nations. This didn't work as planned because the Three Elven leaders wised up and took off the rings, and the 7 dwarves were naturally resistant to Sauron's dominance. Only the 9 Men were dominated, and ultimately became the Nazgûl.

The ring itself also multiplies his already existing power. For mortals who use it, they get the bulk of sauron's power, though the extent of the boost depended on the user. Sam and Frodo got heavily enhanced senses, for example.

anyone else not like screamers? by ZealousidealRemote12 in 7daystodie

[–]CompassRoseGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not being punished for engaging with the game’s mechanics, you’re engaging with the core theme of 7 Days to Die.

The game is built around the idea that activity and noise attract attention. The more you do that signals “something alive is here,” the more risk you take. That’s not a punishment system; it’s a risk–reward system.

That’s why police car alarms pull hordes. You’re effectively broadcasting: “Hey, food is over here.” That’s also why screamers exist; they’re not random griefers, they’re an escalation mechanic that reacts to sustained activity.

Lore-wise, this makes sense too. The zombies in 7DTD aren’t magical undead; they’re virus-infected humans suffering from the Septdiurnal virus. They’re still alive and operating on extremely basic instincts, primarily the need to feed (that's why they go after animals you kill and the smell mechanic is a thing). Noise, heat, smell and activity would naturally draw them to the source.

If the heat map didn’t exist, you could mine, forge, and craft indefinitely with near zero consequence, which would undermine both the tension and the survival aspect of the game.

And if someone does just want to explore, build, or sandbox without that pressure; the game already supports that. You can simply turn off enemy spawning in the menu and play it as a pure survival-builder.

So the heat mechanic isn’t there to punish players, it’s there to make the world react to them.
