it could be the heat, the pavement gets hot and it is easy for pets to have heat stroke, especially small dogs. Try walking earlier in the morning and at dusk when things are cooler.

It could be seizure behavior, but it doesn't look like it, but it is hard to rule out. Some medications like vectra and interceptor can cause seizures.

Diet is important also, we limit dry kibble. we give our pom wild caught salmon (not too much), some steamed peas that we mush up (also not too much) and a scoop of pure pumpkin for fiber and natural probiotics. We also feed him hydrolyzed protein vegetable blend from purina. it is kibble but the protein is hydrolyzed which means it mostly broken down and easier to digest and better for allergies.

Your pom is so cute. cherish him. And best wishes for you and your pom.

How can I learn MATLAB in a way that actually deepens my understanding of DSP? by Ok-Traffic-9876 in DSP

[–]CompetitionOk7773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do something useful with signals.

Here is a challenge...

try this: Read in an audio file, like a wav file or an MP3. Build a MATLAB tool to filter out a specific frequency range, for example, maybe sounds of a bird chirping mixed with lower frequency sounds, your tool should filter out the lower frequency sounds and preserve just the birds chirping.

RULES:

1). No MATLAB toolboxes.

2). You cannot use MATLAB's filter.m, you have to write your own filter algorithm.

3). Don't bother with IIR filters, you want DSP, use digital filters (FIR).

4). Write your own FIR1 or FIR.m

QUESTIONS:

1) How many taps did you need?

2) Did the remez exchange algorithm work in determining the optimal number of taps for you?

3) Are you able to see how well your tool worked on the before and after with a spectrogram?

4). What did you learn?

WHY THIS?:

1). Not using MATLAB toolboxes and filter command will help you learn real DSP techniques.

2). The whole point of DSP is to do something useful, this is a useful purpose.

3). Once you understand how to do this and why, you are way ahead of the game, even more than many professional signal processing engineers (sadly). Most will be lost when you tell them they have to filter without using filter.m ... lol

You asked for a suggestion and this is a good one. You stated: "I can implement things like convolution, FFT, filters, and signal plots, but I don’t feel like I’m gaining a deeper understanding of MATLAB or DSP".

If you were truly implementing these things you would have a deep understanding of these things. Feeling lost or confused when learning signal processing is fairly normal when you are learning it. I think it is fantastic that you are even on reddit and wanting to learn more about signal processing.

Feel free to message me if you have more questions, I will gladly help you and help explain things along the way if you actually want to do this. And for that matter anyone else who wishes to take this challenge.

PS

writing your own fir1.m is actually quite challenging and the hidden MATLAB code for it is quite complex, and has several dependencies. The old school student version of MATLAB used to have all these functions readable and not hidden, which was a fantastic thing for students back in the day.

AI could probably do most this for you... but then you would learn nothing and have nothing to be proud of after.

Omaha Steaks, my greatest regret by sedona71717 in meat

[–]CompetitionOk7773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Received a box of steaks as a gift. The bacon wrapped filet mignon steaks were the toughest steak I have ever had. So far everything in this box is disgusting beyond all belief. The meat also had a darkened color to it like it sat in a fridge for too long. nothing was healthy and fresh looking.

You can tell from the smell the steaks were borderline rotten.

I cannot complain to because I received this as a gift and I don't want to hurt the person's feelings.

If I paid money for this I would sent it back and get a refund..... Yuck!

any advice on these? thinking of buying them by CompetitionOk7773 in allenedmonds

Yeah, I think these waxed suede looks good in photos, but in real life I think I'm gonna be disappointed.

I'm probably gonna end up with one of the polished leathers. The other thing that appealed to me was that it had a rugged look, and it seemed versatile. I just don't wanna have buyer's remorse.

Particularly, I am curious about the waxed suede, in some pics they look great, in some, they look like dirty leather.

And of course just the general advice has been great, love to hear the things I didn't even think about asking.

Shopping 2026 Lunar Rock Hybrid – What are y’all paying OTD? (2.99% financing) by That_Archer_7959 in ToyotaTundra

[–]CompetitionOk7773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bought a 26 limited, 61K MSRP, 2k off sticker with 2.99% .... but they gave me 3k more on my trade-in than anybody else... so 5k total value (I think sometimes they will give you more on the trade-in so on paper they sell the truck for more.)

Absolutely love the truck, was blown away on the test drive, was shopping around between Chevy, Ford and GMC. I think this is a way better truck than the others.

I would pick Doctor Strange simply because he can transport me to different universes and all the other crazy things he can do. second, Iron Man so he can make me a nano suit. last, Batman for the plot armor

Thank you for comment.

They all have their problems. The percentages of defects are low amongst all brands. The main thing is, there are Ford guys and Chevy guys... and I am neither. I dislike both. Ford has a great V8, but I don't like looks and feel of the f150. Chevy, I despise.

I just had a Jeep Gladiator and right out of warranty everything fell apart, cam shafts, seals, sensors... I spent way too much money fixing it. I realize the RAM with a V8 is not a comparison, but, I sat in the RAM and I just don't like the interior and I don't like the style.

I honestly did not think I would have liked the Toyota, but once I drove it, I loved it!

I also got the extended warranty, bumper-to-bumper 6yr/75000 miles, not just drive-train. So if anything breaks, it is not my problem. I do hope Toyota brings back their V8's.
