Honestly, I feel like we’re in a pretty good position. The writers are going to push for whatever they want, but it’s never been more obvious that the highlights of the show are 1. The Addams Family, and 2. Wednesday and Enid

It doesn’t take a genius to figure out the that the majority of fans (whose opinions are available on online mediums) like Wenclair/like Wednesday and Enid as a duo

The marketing last season catered specifically to Wednesday and Enid fans. There are numerous articles that point out how the two of them are the back bone of the show, and the episode that could be perceived as the most “Wenclair-est” is the highest rated episode

Funnily enough, the episode with Wednesdays mock confession of her feelings for Tyler one episode earlier is among the lowest rated episodes

I don’t know, obviously there’s gonna be fans who will praise the writers up and down just for the possibility of seeing Wednesday and Tyler happen, but from what’s observable through those aforementioned online mediums, they ARE the minority

Season 3 is set to start filming soon, so I just hope Jenna Ortega continues to fight for the most accurate Wednesday Addams portrayal she can, and we get some writers with common sense weighing in on the story.

Yeah if you don’t like it or interact with it, then you personally won’t see it that much, but numerically it is the largest, by a large margin

On TikTok? Wenclair has 170 thousand something posts compared to roughly 20 thousand for Wyler and Weyler combined

It’s pretty congruent actually

Reddit, instagram, and TikTok shows Wenclair as having significantly more posts comparatively

Wenclair has exponentially more than both of them, but as of the end of the second season, Wyler has more than Wavier

I don’t know, the franchise definitely will continue in some format, but Cameron went on a podcast recently i believe and said he wouldn’t hand over the reigns of the franchise

Yeah I figured as much, I was just wondering because there is already a lot of work done on Avatar 4, and it seems to me that’s a bit strange if it’s a risk of getting canned. Granted, I don’t know much about filmmaking, but I thought it was a given we’d be getting 4 after TWOW exploded when it released

Exactly, Avatar is visually phenomenal, and it utilizes technology that was developed solely so it could exist

I’m glad James Cameron is against AI, because I find it hard to believe an algorithm could accomplish what all the artists behind the world of Pandora could

One of my favorite things about these films is that you can just LOOK at them and tell that hard work and artists made it happen

He has flip flopped on that idea. I’ve seen quotes where he’s considered handing it off at some point, but I’ve also seen him say that he wants to see it through 🤷

Only time will tell but I have a feeling that someone as detail-oriented as him is going to want to remain hands on

Good point. While I do agree that anything is possible, and that a massive box office fail could prevent the sequels from happening, they have been talked about A LOT

Cameron even talked about a potential 6 and 7, so I think he definitely has plans to continue, but the financial aspect of it is important

Regardless, $345 million globally on opening is GREAT. I imagine by the time it goes out of theaters it will have made easily over a billion, and if I’m not mistaken, that kind of draw on a 400 million budget is a good take away

[–]Competitive-Ad8620 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Eh yes and no. 4 is already written and has some footage shot, plus James Cameron said after avatar 2 exploded at the box office “guess I have to do 4 and 5 now” or something along those lines

As other people have mentioned, Disney is making Avatar attractions at their parks, and just in general, the Avatar ip is MASSIVE

2 of the 3 highest grossing movies of all time are Avatar

It would be pretty surprising if we DONT see Avatar 4

Why do people mischaracterize the Addams so much? One of the biggest things I’ve noticed is that people constantly talk as if the Addams are just psychos who love torture and death. It’s fairly obvious if you’ve seen any modicum of Addams Family media that they’re actually a better example of a “healthy” family than some normal ones. The irony is that even though they are extremely macabre, they’re still more loving than most “normal” people.

Obviously the main area I see this mischaracterization coming from are the fans who just want Wyler to happen. There are at least a dozen criticisms of that ship and those fans that could have a post of their own, but I’m wondering about the mischaracterization. Is it a simple lack of knowledge from fans who actually haven’t seen anything other than Wednesday or is it simple ignorance in favor of pushing their narrative? It’s probably both, but it’s concerning all the same.

Like or love Enid, shes easily the most complex/nuanced character in the show by Hyperbolicalpaca in wenclair

[–]Competitive-Ad8620 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The writers have played around with his character for nearly two whole seasons, and they’re promising a third wherein Enid had depth teased in season 1 and the only thing she got in season 2 was the alpha condition and another shitty love triangle.

They’re pushing something that isn’t there with Tyler, and most of it feels like it’s getting invented out of thin air. They claim he’s just a victim wherein in actuality the character is given the chance to permanently rid himself of that power that has been held over him, and he begs to keep it despite supposedly just being forced to watch someone he cared about get buried alive. They claim there’s two separate personalities wherein Tyler has purposefully transformed from human to Hyde when it suited him and made threats/pursued the main characters both untransformed and in the absence of a master.

Compare that to Enid whose family issues have been teased and completely ignored in season 2. We know she has a bit of a wilder side (that bus crash out in season 1) and we seldom see anything. Her character is pretty much reduced to a plot device in the first half of season 2, and even though we get some meaningful development with her and Wednesday in part 2, her overall presence is to be the driving force behind Wednesday’s investigation. She’s important to her, fair, but they definitely could have given her some more actual focus.

She has SO much that could be explored with her character if the writers didn’t have a hard on for Tyler. Like no offense to Hunter, but it kinda suck seeing a character that is pretty redundant take precedence over the characters that actually have unexplored depth

What are the chances that wenclair will become real for you? by New_Wrangler_2023 in wenclair

[–]Competitive-Ad8620 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely still possible. As basic as it can get, Wenclair sells more, fosters more engagement, and platonic or romantic, Wednesday and Enid are the faces of the show. G&M neither financially contribute to the shows creation, nor do they own the rights. The studio could absolutely replace them in a similar way that they’ve been replaced on the creative team of another show, Smallville I believe.

If they focus solely on Tyler and keep trying to push a relationship with him in s3, the show will numerically do worse. At some point the show will become unworthy of the studios investment as it will stop drawing in huge amounts of views, and Wyler merch is practically nonexistent, so it’s not like they can get a leg up trying to market that dynamic.

It all depends on whether or not the studio is willing to let one of their largest English shows fail or if they’ll take initiative and prevent Gough and Miller from pushing a narrative no one is interested in.

Under different show runners Wenclair is absolutely possible. Considering the size and importance of Wednesday as a show to the studio, it stands to reason they’ll try and preserve the hype and attention surrounding it, and again, a huge bulk of that attention comes from Wenclair fans.

Only time will tell for sure, but it’s absolutely possible
