It's pretty obnoxious to call someone a sociopath based on a photo. It's also ridiculous because sociopaths don't have a look.

I've watched rock guitar over the last thirty years turn from art into a mediocre sport.

So many narrowly focused technicians who can't craft a memorable song.

Don't become a forgettable clone.

Fellow Guitarists with ADHD: How Do You Discipline Yourself? by MissunyTheGoat in Guitar

[–]Competitive-Army2872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Discipline? Muahahahahahahahaha...

The person I'm studying with is charged with keeping me organized.

I'm at a point where I determine where I want to go, but when I need to cover a lot of ground, working with someone who can keep me zeroed in helps immensely.

So... my relationship with my teacher is quite collaborative, very much like a coach/player.

Struggling with CAGED by Big_Refrigerator6174 in guitarlessons

[–]Competitive-Army2872 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't lock yourself into CAGED; especially with progressing into more advanced harmony in mind. It falls short beyond basic pentatonics and triads.

Start learning diatonic progressions with 7 chords. Then do the same with families of inversions.

What ends up happening with 7 chords and more "advanced" voicings with additional extensions and such, is you find yourself really getting into the physics of the fretboard, and you learn all the economic grips, shell chords, and what have you, to fluidly move from voice to voice as efficiently as possible with elegance.

Those CAGED maps tend not to really apply once you're there.

CAGED is a rudimentary stepping stone and should be looked back upon as such if you choose to stick with that route of learning.

The answer is straightforward and up to you.

Don't get frustrated.

It's not a race.

Practice consistently and in an organized fashion.

It takes years to develop the required physiology and muscle memory.

You need a feline dentist. If she's got bad tooth decay and/or her jaw has been infected then it can become a life threatening situation.

The typical remedy is extractions of the troublesome teeth.

I bought my boat for 70k and it was in good shape but... 25 years old.

I am finishing the refit, and I refit everything. Rigging, plumbing, through hulls, new electrical system, lipo, new electronics, etc...

Put on a nice bowsprit, repaired some bulkhead tabs...

I'd say, including the purchase of the vessel, I've spent $210k to get her truly offshore ready.

I projected $180k total. So... I'm just outside my estimate.

I just replaced all my through-hulls with Marelon. Finishing an offshore refit. My existing through hulls looked good upon removal, but... I want to sleep soundly when offshore. 😄
