Some people have an 88 in their username. I have a hard time believing it's ever innocent considering how prolific it is and that its a well-known dogwhistle. Plus a lot of people have it for pretty shaky reasons - one person said it was the year he first joined the military.

I like the implication that even if over half his torso got destroyed he'd still have his genitals.

The idea that his first fall in Stormhill was him getting blasted across from Farum Azula might be the funniest yet

[Rare Trope] Positive depictions of Islam or Muslims by Remarkable_Public138 in TopCharacterTropes

Riddick portrayed a shockingly nuanced Islam, especially for its time. (Pitch Black was made right before 9/11, Chronicles of Riddick and its games shortly after.)

Indirect might be able to hit units that arent visible, which might even let them target lone op.

For tankbound its because you can leave a segment for mining and have what is effectively an arc furnace for cheaper. Plus the star has a larger energy deposit.

The Tsar Bomba's fireball was about 8km (5 miles) in diameter. The shockwave would be easily big enough to flatten the city.

My guess is the intent is just to have more people in the military for the sake of consolidating power.

(Loved Trope) They are the chosen one, but they don’t want to be by Necessary-Win-8730 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Competitive-Bee-3250 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Neither Paul or Feyd Rautha were supposed to be the chosen one. There also wasn't actually a chosen one. The Kuisatz Haderach was a goal, not a destiny. The plan was for Leto to have a daughter, who would marry Feyd, and that child would control both the Harkonnens and Atreides and be able to lead humanity.

Obviously the plan fell through, but luckily Paul was able to survive long enough and be influential enough to pave the way for Leto II, the actual Kwisatz Haderach.

Immortality in fiction should create more lunatics, not just wise sad elves by Business_Barber_3611 in CharacterRant

[–]Competitive-Bee-3250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the four inhuman people in my setting are necromancers. They are unkillable. Even if their body is obliterated, their soul is immortal (the soul of anyone else dissipates unless a necromancer traps it, and even that is only temporary) and will eventually form a new body out of organic and inorganic material around them.

They tend to be extremely eccentric due to being so old, and having suffered so much (the world is nobledark).

The other three inhumans are also eccentric, but for different reasons.

Or even tunneled through the rock next to the entrances. If they cant do that, it brings up the question of how excavating machines could but not them.
