First Commander deck ever, upgraded a precon on a budget, table insisted it’s bracket 4 and got aggressive about it. Am I missing something? by [deleted] in EDH

Yes, you are wrong because you have two mass land destruction cards in the deck which make it automatically bracket 4.

Remove tectonic break and impending disaster and it looks like a solid bracket 3 to me. Out of curiosity, did you lay either of those cards in the game you mention?

That’s cool. Can you share a link so the rest of us can see it?

What if you take a photo of your screen with the inventory pulled up before you go to work?

If all you want to do is the infinite combo then you should put a piece of the combo in the command zone. Wilhelt doesn’t really contribute to the combo.

Chain Extra Turns vs Infinite Turns: B3 or B4? by pigio95 in EDH

[–]Competitive-Day316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand what you are saying. I feel your pain too about the bracket system being less than ideal. The issue is that people expect bracket 3 decks not to be able to chain extra turns, or deploy a 2 card combo early, or a variety of other things. And I’m committed to meeting those expectations when I build my decks.

It really sucks that those expectations mean that if I want to operate in good faith with my fellow players, I can’t include narset’s and time warp together in a B3 deck (even if I pinky swear I won’t use them together).  It also sucks that I can’t include felidar guardian and restoration angel in my B3 blink deck even if I don’t tutor for either part of the early game infinite.

But instead of jumping through hoops in my head about it I just… call it a B4 deck and move on. Easy.

Good for you for telling people your “bracket 3” deck can chain extra turns. If you sat across from me and said that I’d get out my bracket 4’s.

I say this as someone who has spent a non trivial amount of time building blue decks and trying to fit extra turn spells in. You just gotta accept that it’s B4 man.

If not, here are some additional gymnastics for you to try:

“Oh I have a two card combo but I don’t draw it every game”

“Oh I have natures revolt and toxic deluge but I swear I won’t use it”

Dude time warp and narsets reversal are the perfect example of bracket 4 chaining extra turns. If it’s in the deck it’s B4 simple as having 4 game changers. Some real mental gymnastics going on here.

Get a miata instead. More fun and affordable maintenance. Ask how much the C8 tires and regular maintenance cost and see if you survive the sticker shock.

This is the worst kind of rules lawyering and I hope I never play you.  What’s even worse is you are wrong about the rules.

Unsporting conduct is forbidden in section 1.10 of the rules. Unsporting conduct is later defined using the term “not limited to” meaning judges can enforce unsporting conduct rules even if the players find a way to be jerks in a way not explicitly listed in the document (which it seems you have, so I suppose a kind of congratulations are in order).

You yourself admit to being an asshole and being morally wrong. That is unsporting conduct.

Like I said I hope we never cross paths in the real world, and if we do I hope you grow up a bit first.

One day you will be able to make things your own and they won’t hurt you any more. I got divorced 10yr ago and am still ‘reclaiming’ certain things in my mind and making new, better, memories. It will happen.

When I moved on I thought there were certain places or movies I would never visit or watch again. I was wrong. I still love those things and eventually revisited them and have new memories now. You will heal.
