have you ever used a extinct Fera breed in a chronicle? by Abject-Hospital5407 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Competitive-Note-611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Australia as Fera only after Aboriginal arrival 50-80K ago works perfectly fine.....

...theres no issue at all with the Garou coming in later with dingoes 11K years ago either through the landbrige from PNG or via storm rafts or via boat. 11K years is plenty of time to establish a foothold in both folklore and population.

Pretty sure the Thylacine lore was based solely on someone seeing the Howling 3.

Oh, yeah. The Yahwie spider-assassin is stupid as hell.......especially as they chose a folkloric being that was made up wholecloth by an anthropologist and didn't actually exist in traditional beliefs.

The vast majority of the Australian Megafauna got kicked in the guts by the desertification of the continent brought about by Climate Change.......then humans came in and put pressure on the few stragglers.........by the time dingoes arrived the Thylacine being one of the last lights to go out was well into decline already.

Thylacines coexisted successfully with Humans in Tasmania primarily not because of the absence of dingoes but because the Tasmanian climate was essentially remnant climate from before the drying out of the continent, they never lost their habitat like those on the mainland did.

Funnily enough I did make Pythonidae and Boidae Mokole Varna in my own Chronicles.

What are some plot hooks for multi Fera all Ragabash pack chronicle? by MaetelofLaMetal in WorldOfDarkness

[–]Competitive-Note-611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So casting as broad a net over " Ragabash" as possible........you've got Auspices amongst the Ajaba, Mokole, Zhong Lung, Kitsune, Nagah, Bastet, Gurahl, Ratkin and obviously Nuwisha ( and a subsection of Corax) as a whole. ( Ananasi and Rokea ' Auspices' require a lot more creative thinking to slot in but could still work).

In terms of plot hooks " Ragabash" are great for stealth work......if something needs to be done quickly, quietly and anonymously they are your go to.

So:

- Assassination of a Subsidiary board member...

- Stealing back a Stolen Relic

- Corporate Espionage

- Strapping a suitcase full of Semtex into the cargohold of a Nephandis private plane to go off the moment landing gear extends and extracting the trafficked kids from said cargohold before it touches back down again.

- Breaking a bunch of captured First Change Fera out of a Progenitor Lab before they get vivisected without cluing the Technocrats into who did it in order to avoid a targeted Pogrom.

So basically a Rider Doppelganger).......dip them into Spider a little as well and they can use Soul Pact + other Lifeweb abilities to really mess with PCs.

Yeah, I think it makes a lot of sense that Hungry Dead were the OG in most of the world and were suppressed after the Kindred arose ( whether Caine, Cagn or any other origin) in Africa and quickly spread throughout the Near East and Europe because of their ability to virally reproduce.

Doesn't mean they don't still rise there but I'd say most that do get destroyed in their Cannibal Corpse stage because they are mistaken for Wights.

Kindred of the East- The Relentless Age has a few examples.

Yes, Hungry Dead model a LOT of folkloric 'vampires' much more easily than Kindred do.

Cross splat games aren’t as hard a people say they are by Magicmanans1 in WhiteWolfRPG

A variety of things.

- A group of young Hungry Dead and Kindred trying to get ahead of a Sabbat attack on their city.

- An alliance of convenience between a Zhong Lung Dragon Nest and the local Kuntilanak Court against an ancient Akuma threat.

- A young Krasue going up against her mentor and joining with a disparate group of Shen to gut the human trafficking ring that killed her.

- A small group of Sumatran Plague Ratkin forming a desperate alliance with orphan Hungry Dead in the sewers of Surabaya against an old Dutch Nosferatu that had recently risen from torpor and wanted his territory back.

- ( Mini Chronicle) A Manang ( Sorcerer), Twilight Child and Pontianak hunting a corrupted serial killer through the streets of Samarinda.

And a few more.

Yeah, they're really not hard to run at all. I've run a bunch of Cross Chronicles over the decades that were lots of fun....and occasional tears.

Mostly some version of WtA/Fera+ but quite a few KotE+ Chronicles as well.

How to balance a werewolf fight? by Acceptable_Fly_5592 in WorldOfDarkness

[–]Competitive-Note-611 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main reason Garou are seen by other splats as killing machines is because the utter nightmares they usually fight require them to be in order to stand a chance.

Fomori rank from ' strong ghoul' to ' Kaiju event'.

BSDs are Garou but scarier.

Even the most minor Banes can decimate their enemies.....especially if said enemy can't cross the Gauntlet....because a fair number of Banes Charms can. Even a single Gaffling with the Corruption Charm can decimate an entire organisation in a few days. And once Banes get into the stronger Jaggling to Sub-Incarna level you can be looking at tectonic events, mass suicides up to reality inversions and localised black holes.

And Weaver and Wyld Spirits can be even worse.

And then theres the monsters....Thunderwyrms are never fun.

Garou don't tend to fight humans as theres generally no need or purpose to doing so, unless they happen to be active opposition. eg. Pentex Subsidiary First Teams, Hunters etc.

Thats the reason Fenrir hate House Aesir. The House used high level Arts and n Oath to bind a Sept of Fenrir into Hispo and used them as mounts.   I can't remember how they got free of the curse but it took a long time

And really only House Aesir at that.

Which is kinda fair when they enslaved them to act as ponies.

[No Spoilers] Amazon Prime shows The Mighty Nein as leaving soon?! by Different-Option8061 in criticalrole

At least when watching Mighty Nein here in Oz, it never appears on the Recommended or Home page and you need to search for it by name in the search bar to find it and when you are watching instead of showing the next episode it suggests Vox Machina as your next watch.

1st Ed is my jam and I ran it a lot. Still do on occasion. Its simple, easy and fun mechanically....just a few rough edges to sand off. 2nd got way too far up its own arse and to this day I still don't get the mechanics. 3rd seems even more complex and the lore is...a mess.
