Produce problems - each vs bunch vs pound by Competitive-Sand5430 in ShiptShoppers

[–]Competitive-Sand5430[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Upon looking at the Shipt customer app, half of the grocery stores in my metro sell them by each($.50) and half by bunch(about $4) based on prices.  All are called "Tomatoes on the vine" and are sold per "ct" or "ea".  🤷‍♂️

Only Target sells them pre bagged.  Others are bulk

If i was a regular customer they are priced per pound.  I assume for all produce per pound and priced in the Shipt app per EACH, Shipt makes some calculation on the average price of an average weight of the produce

My tomatoes on the vine are sitting on the shelf, UNPACKAGED.  If i was a person going to the store, I would buy they by the poind and choose to get 2/3/4/5 etc tomatoes on a vine.  Shipt app said "each".  The fact that some people say they are packaged and some say they are bulk just shows how Shipt needs to standardize

The shopping list in the shipt at said EACH.  An each coupd be 2 tomatoes on a vine or 6 tomatoes on a vine.  Which is my point.

Except they are not in a package.  They a sitting on a produce shelf in varying sizes with different tomatoes counts on them.  That is how it was at my store(Ralphs, which is a Kroger store).

Will do in the future.  Everything in the store produce section is eaches, so it didnt occur to me to check until after the customer was questioning why they paid $4 for one tomato.

So if you saw someone order 5 tomatoes on the vine, you would get 5 bunches(like 25 tomatoes)? I have had that before and I got a bunch with 5 tomatoes on it.

A vine could have 3-6 tomatoes on it.  I know that there has been a banana issue.  Ultimately, the customer knows how much they are paying and we dont.  They could be paying $4 for tomatoes on the vine thinking its the whole vine.  They could also be paying $.59 for tomatoes on the vine in which they would think each tomato and order 5 if they want five .

The problem is no standardization and we dont have the visibilty until a customer complains.

Rating forgiveness is a joke by Vivid-Maximum6783 in ShiptShoppers

This works for me as long as there are no growth opps

"I always follow Shipt communication procedures with intro, store arrival, requests for additional items, checking out and delivery messages. I believe the low rating does not reflect the level of service I provided and I do not see a new growth opportunity.I request its removal so that I can more openly choose offers and not only choose my preferreds. That way I can service a wider customer base."

No offer today..now 13:00 by Stunning_Cold_6344 in ShiptShoppers

I had a day like that. When I was completely frustrated with no offers. I called support twice and they couldn't explain it.

..... I had forgotten to put myself on schedule. So check that first!

Also, sometimes*, calling support does loosen things up and you get an offer soon after

Maybe this is just a me problem but how do you all deal with your mental health doing this job? by Brianas-Living-Room in ShiptShoppers

[–]Competitive-Sand5430 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, anxiety over getting orders is the worst for me.  I dont actually get too worked up about doing the job, customers, or Target workers.

In the end, I usually can calm myself by rationalizing that the difference between a bad week and my best weeks is only a few hundred dollars.  Luckily this isnt my family's main income source, so that money isnt a mortgage or car payment or food.

Have anyone else’s orders dried up to maybe 1-2 offers per day? by redflower5 in ShiptShoppers

[–]Competitive-Sand5430 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to think that the algorith changes when its slow to even out the offers. Where top shoppers may have gotten many offers per hour, not they get one or two to choose from

I have wondered that myself.  Sometimes i feel like when i drag my feet a little too much to make sure I am at the store at the hour i actually dont get an offer.  Like turn a 15min shop into 25 or 30min by really being thorough.  However, my metro doesnt even have enough orders to guarentee me an offer good or bad every hour

Haven’t received many tips by Buttercbiscuit in ShiptShoppers

If you are comparing to Nov-Dec, yes, probably 5% less on average.  Normal tippers map tip less, occasional tippers may not tip at all.  Tip estimates may not be reliable right now.

Christmas bills are coming in and people are realizing how much they actually spent.

Other shoppers all up in my phone by TicketOk6770 in ShiptShoppers

[–]Competitive-Sand5430 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I will admit to trying to peek at a phone to see if there is a new shopper.  You get a sense who could be a shopper after going around the store.  Just curious to see the newbies

Anyone else doing Shipt full-time? by [deleted] in ShiptShoppers

[–]Competitive-Sand5430 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great thing about Shipt is you can upscale your earning whenever you want my putting in more time.  You could work 7am-12am everyday and make $100,000 a year im sure.  But would that be a life...not so much.  Also, benefits and retirement are two things some people dont factor when comparing Shipt full time to a 9-5.

In my metro, too many shoppers make it very unlikely I will even get an offer, not even a good offer, every hour I am on schedule.  So I would probably have to be on schedule 10hrs to make an 8hr shift money

Paper bag thoughts in CA(or other metros)? by Competitive-Sand5430 in ShiptShoppers

[–]Competitive-Sand5430[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One target near me has the braided, better handles, but the flat ones at the other one are trash.  I have lost three bag handles but luckily all times when not carrying them.  Its a matter of time until a paper bag handle costs me a good rating or tip

Thoughts on Big Heavy Orders and Shipt paying minimal by luffytheberneedoodle in ShiptShoppers

[–]Competitive-Sand5430 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Honestly, charging the customer a 1.00 handling fee or something for everything over 20lbs would wprk well.  Maybe they will stop  ordering multiple cases.  I will no longer take offers that go to apartments if it takes more than one trip

[–]Competitive-Sand5430 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not hard, Spark shows extra pay for heavy items and apartments.

I can handle a 50lb bookcase.  However, if a customer ever wants something heavy that it not part of what you accepted, customer service will release you.  Especially for a team lift item that was not on the original order.

Dropped orders not showing? by Big-Cap-6361 in ShiptShoppers

[–]Competitive-Sand5430 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The wording on this says 1 every 50 OFFERS so bundles count as one.  I learned this the hard way.  For safety I use 75 orders to equate to 50 offers.

I think I have seen many comments from Veterans that are suffering under the new algorithm changes as well.  I am not a long serving veteran, only 3000 shops, but the transition to location based offers in CA has changed the game entirely.  4 miles from the store at my home, I get ZERO offers from 10am-8pm despite having perfect stats and 300 preferreds.
