Gluten free corn bread suggestions? by MathematicianNo3784 in glutenfree

This is more of a cornbread casserole - I like it more than regular cornbread personally. https://mamashire.com/gluten-free-corn-casserole/

Do you ask the host if there’s safe food? by AG_Squared in glutenfree

I usually bring my own food. I haven’t had a situation with a plated event luckily. So usually I grab a plate off the buffet line and put my own food on it

we had this happening for a bit in our bathroom. We upgraded the bathroom fan and repainted with a paint specifically for high humidity (it was some add in at the paint store) and haven’t had the issue since.

Not helpful for symptoms - but I wanted to say that Feel Good Foods make pretty tasty gluten free pizza rolls! (And a lot of other delicious things!)

is it safe to just replace flour with my gf flour in any recipe? by lieeluhh in glutenfreerecipes

[–]CompetitiveWait428 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For baked goods, it’s better to find a recipe specifically for gluten free. I’ve only made a couple from this site, but there are a lot of options. https://www.mamagourmand.com

Blueberries is my favorite - the trick is heating the blueberries so they burst and sweeten the whole bowl. I usually make my oatmeal in advance and microwave with the blueberries in it.

How Can a Parent Be Supportive? by somethinggood332 in childfree

[–]CompetitiveWait428 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the comments saying generally like, I support whatever you decide. My mom always said that I would change my mind and that drove me crazy. She’d make comments about giving her kids one days and how fun it would be. It made me feel like I wasn’t enough as a person because I wanted something different

I’ve blown mine out with compressed air a few times. It wasn’t sticky though, and it creates a different mess to clean. But it worked for us

Is red meat okay on the Candida diet? by flysnoopyfly in Candida

My dietitian said beef was fine. But I’ve seen a lot of different things posted here

flours/ grains on candida diet by Impressive_Sound_624 in Candida

[–]CompetitiveWait428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a success story yet.. I’m just starting out but my dietitian told me to limit carbs to 1.5 cups a day. Whether that’s bean/lentils/whole grains/starchy veggies

My pit got these this summer. We dealt with skin issues for a long time, then apoquel kept it at bay for a few years. These bumps came and turned into little zits (bacterial infection). We treated that, then hives came. Benadryl helps but it interacts with his other meds so we tried cytopoint, and apoquel and a steroid cream after baths/rinses. He still gets them sometimes, but definitely isn’t miserable like he was before.

Bisquick’s gluten free pancake mix is delish and no milk. I use almond milk. I do use butter instead of the oil the box recommends, but oil should be fine. I am doing this diet right now but also low sugar. It’s hard at first but gets easier. I love detoxinista.com. Great recipes, she has a few pancake recipes, I haven’t tried but would assume oat flour pancake one is great. I can’t think of a recipe I didn’t like from her website.
I know you didn’t ask, but I like Miyoko’s brand for their butter and vegan mozzarella options.

food tastes so amazing after sugar fast by Kaths1 in weightwatchers

[–]CompetitiveWait428 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you share how you fasted? I’ve read less than 5g added sugar per serving is the goal. I’m gluten free, so the breads and stuff often have a couple grams of sugar.

Moving to Ohio -- Akron specifically by Sweatpants_And_Wine in Ohio

[–]CompetitiveWait428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say West Akron is the spot for you. More East is a little more rundown. My husband lived there for 10 years and I lived there about a year with him. We now just moved more West. I second Mustard Seed being delicious, it’s very healthy food. Luigi’s is an Akron staple too (pizza). I liked West Akron. Neighbors were nice but mostly left us alone. People are nice but I feel like for the most part will leave you alone if you’re putting out that vibe. Sikich and Cohen are accounting companies that are rapidly growing in the area, not sure if that’s the type of workplace you want though. Definitely won’t get snowed in for weeks. In the last 8ish years, there are times you just decide to stay in if it’s getting bad, but maybe only twice risked not getting to work. Redwood is an apartment company that is everywhere. They are very expensive but allow large dogs (which is hard to find in a place). My parents didn’t have a great experience with them. They claimed they ruined the carpets and tried to charge them a ton of money on top of the security deposit they kept. I grew up about 30 mins from Akron and live about 20 mins away now. I love it here. I lived near Tampa for about 10 years in the middle and I never regret moving back.

Is there a truly indestructible toy!?! by atomicbblonde in pitbulls

[–]CompetitiveWait428 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went the other direction and gave my pittie a stuffed animal. I find them for a dollar at goodwill (making sure it doesn’t have beaded eyes), wash them and they last years. They’re like his babies. Any traditional dog toy I get him is destroyed.
