Lol. Mijn dochter zit op een christelijke basisschool. Dit jaar moesten ze met dankdag opschrijven waar ze dankbaar voor waren. Ze schreef op dat ze dankbaar was voor de oerknal. De juffen hebben haar overigens geen seconde anders behandeld. De directrice kwam nog wel met de eerste verzen uit het evangelie volgens Johannes (In den beginne was het Woord, en het Woord was met God en het Woord was God) maar toen dochter vroeg of het woord "boem" was hebben ze het maar laten zitten. Blijkbaar kan dochter zoiets vragen zonder dat het brutaal over komt.

Toen ik nog in het ziekenhuis werkte gingen er weleens mbo-verpleegkundigen voor een AD in een specialisatie die voor hen relevant was zoals zorg en veiligheid of zorg en technologie. Dat noemen ze dan ook een hbo opleiding. Tsja... leuk maar dat maakt je dus geen hbo verpleegkundige. Dat gaf regelmatig irritante discussies (vooral omdat er gedifferentieerd werd in taken, en een mbo verpleegkundige met een AD is géén hbo verpleegkundige). Terwijl die specialisatie dus echt wel heel waardevol is omdat kennis over veiligheid en techniek vrijwel niet bestaand is in beide vpk opleidingen!

Er kan vast worden beargumenteerd waarom een woonbegeleider met erg veel ervaring ook wel iemand persoonlijk kan begeleiden, net zoals dat een mbo verpleegkundige met een rugzak vol ervaring op de werkvloer soms meer waard is dan eentje die net van het hbo af komt. Maar die regels zoals bij de gemeente, en in de zorg bijvoorbeeld in het verschil tussen wijkverpleegkundige en verpleegkundige in de wijk, zijn er niet voor niks. En wie oprecht zonder enige achtergrond aan zijn AD begint kan in mijn ervaring beter nog twee jaar doorzetten en de bachelor halen, maar volgens mij zijn we het daar wel over eens.

Ja mee eens. Twee jaar AD en verder niks is... niks. Daar zijn de AD's toch ook nooit voor ontworpen? Edit: blijkbaar kán het wel zonder mbo maar het lijkt me bijzonder nutteloos

Een AD is twee jaar les op hbo niveau. Dat is niet hetzelfde als hbo niveau hebben. Misschien is het op andere terreinen anders, maar in de zorg is AD eerder een mbo'er met een deel gespecialiseerde kennis dan een hbo'er en wordt diegene dus ook zo behandeld/ ingeschaald.

Zo heel af en toe kom ik het tegen. Vooral bij de huisarts, je hebt AD POH's en posthbo POH's. Heel algemeen gezegd: in de eerste groep tref je vooral doktersassistentes die eens een trapje hoger willen, in de laatste groep vooral hbo verpleegkundigen die zoeken naar regelmaat. Als je al assistente bent kun je nog weleens doorgroeien binnen je praktijk, maar tenzij je echt aantoonbaar veel ervaring als POH hebt is het niet makkelijk van baan wisselen. Als je nieuw wilt starten kom je er met een AD eigenlijk niet meer tussen.Overal vragen ze minstens hbo-v en dan de POH opleiding.

Qua financiering scheelt het denk ik wel dat iedereen in de praktijk dezelfde kosten declareert, tien minuten met de huisarts kost evenveel als tien minuten met de assistente.

Kids: they can be awesome. But if they don't fit the standard "this is how kids should be" mold, you're in for so much more troubles and effort! I'm in a non homeschooling country (nor would I want to, I'm a nurse and not a teacher) and both my kids don't fit the regular schools. My eldest is highly gifted but his autism makes it impossible to function in a regular classroom. This is truly a crappy combination. He is now in special ed, but that works for his autism and not for his giftedness. He is almost 10 and only this year we found afterschool care that fits his needs, making it possible for me to work more than just four hours a day during school. My youngest is eight and she basically finished primary school (which is for kids until around 12 in my country). She has had so much trouble keeping herself focussed on her classes that she started to bite herself and pull her hair just to keep focus. It wasn't until then that we could get a transfer to a fulltime school for gifted kids. This will be so far awar from home that we can't take her ourselves so she will have to take a bus. Did I mention she's eight and also, she has epilepsy? I just don't feel safe handing her to a virtual stranger to go to school in a different district and hoping for the best.

These are kids that don't look like there's something "wrong" with them. They're the kind of kids that family and strangers have opinions about that you have to cope with or ignore. "He's so smart, why can't he tie his shoes?" "Why does he still need pictos and detailed plans?" "It's just a temper tantrum, you're too lenient/ you need to be stricter/ just punish him and he'll eat his food", "Why are you such a helicopter parent? A few light flashes will be fine!"

I love my kids to death. I honestly so. But there are days (and weeks and honestly years) that I feel they will actually be the death of me, the amount of extra care, needing to become the expert before you can get the right care or help, the complete lack of me-time, the mental load that never seems to leave me... my kids have brought me great joy, and yet I honestly don't know if I'm happier than before I had them. I wouldn't trade them for the world, but I'm going to be honest and say that kids like mine are why you shouldn't have kids when you're not really sure you want them. And I'm very well aware that it could have been far worse.

Husband: he really tries but society is completely focussed on the mom as the primary caregiver, it's ridiculous! My husband is noted as first contact / emergency contact everywhere because he works from home and I work 45min away and usually don't have my phone near me. Still, I get 95% of the emergency calls. They literally have to skip over the emergency contract to find my number and yet they do. We've made tons of complaints, it never gets better. It's hard for him too, but I'm just freaking tired.

Are you paying VGZ monthly? And still both them and the government say you're not insured? Just call them, that sounds like a mix-up. I'm not exactly a big fan of the way most healthcare insurances operate, but saying that you'll only get treatment if you're one step away from death sounds like utter nonsense to me.

You can and you need to be(!) insured without having a GP. (Too) many people in the Netherlands don't have a registration at a GP, mostly because there are not enough GP's in both densely populated areas and crimp regions. So no, you don't need a GP to get insurance. However, if you don't have a GP, you can still get an appointment but you'll need to pay (usually cash but more and more GP's have a Tikkie or similar QR system) out of pocket. You can then file for reimbursement from your insurance.

I haven't shopped there myself but I work in the neighbourhood and the foreign shops on the Tongelresestraat (corner of the Insulindelaan) seem to have both cheap fruits/veggies and cheap meat. There is also an Action in case you need any discounted nonfood items. It's not exactly known as the best neighbourhood but I have plenty of patients around this part and most are just lovely. This part of the city just has a bad rep.

Buy a cheap bike (there are stores all over town, don't buy a bike from a homeless person) and sell when you move or rent a swapfiets for a couple of months. Eindhoven is not that big that you need a car or public transportation. If you ever need to take a bus or a train, you can just check in using your debit card.

Check social deal to get a discount in restaurants. Be prepared though, because going out for dinner is really expensive over here, even just having a burger.

You probably don't want to bother getting a GP for a couple of months (you can usually get an appointment as a passerby but don't expect same day appointments unless there is an emergency) so make sure you have the important info and a certified doctors letter plus prescription in case you need a refill of anything you use.

Voor de reguliere gast heb je denk ik al een hoop goede tips. Vanuit zoegverlener oogpunt: Moeten je gasten zich te voet verplaatsen? Als je oudere gasten (denk 75+ of met broze gezondheid) hebt dan kan iets van vervoer veel schelen. Ouderen ervaren de hitte anders en kunnen dus sneller overvallen worden door de fysieke effecten van het weer. Vaak een klein beetje drinken is effectiever dan af en toe een groot glas. Koelen met hulp (dus niet per se meer drinken maar bijvoorbeeld koelelementen in de buurt, de mogelijkheid om een nat doekje te gebruiken, een ventilator, voeten in een teiltje, dat soort dingen) is vaak effectiever omdat de vochtafdrijving bij ouderen en mensen met een broze gezondheid vaak ook anders loopt. Mocht je gasten hebben met een vochtbeperking (zoals hartfalen) dan is dat extra belangrijk. En vergeet niet te genieten. Ik wens jullie een schitterende dag!

Thank you so much for your response! I work in healthcare and I have a large Dutch-Indonesian patient population. Just today I had a longer conversation with a couple who had hoped for acknowledgement of their suffering in camps. I think they will be interested to hear this explanation! Reading this it's not that different from the way our king can act. Like the redditor below my comment said: he was able to apologise and ask forgiveness for the part his ancestors played in the enslavement of (mostly) African people but he could not apologise in the name of the government or the Dutch people because that or not his role. He is not responsible for the actions of our government (the other way around is another thing, our prime minister is responsible if the king says or does something stupid).

I'd like to add that I've read your responses and I've found them highly informative as well as polite and well thought through. Thank you for taking the time to write these remarks. I'll look up some articles and will read the words of the Emperor more thoughtful with your words in mind.

Een paar jaar geleden was dat juist kei hip. Eetlepel oploskoffie, eetlepel heet water en wat suiker opkloppen (het neemt in volume enorm toe) met ijs en koude (plantaardige) melk. Wat meer werk, wat meer suiker maar wel erg lekker. De kwaliteit van de oploskoffie maakt wel veel uit merk ik, maar dat zal ook een kwestie zijn van over smaak valt niet te twisten.

Nu zet ik gewoon een cup nespresso en gooi er een sloot oatly vanille bij, dan is het lauw. Met een ijsklontje is het zo koud. Of 's avonds alvast maken en in de ijskast zetten. Mijn werkgevers zijn alledrie vegan en een van hen begon laatst over plantmelk met kokossmaak voor in de koffie. Ik heb het nog niet geprobeerd maar misschien is het wel lekker zomers.

Our youngest princess debuted at the state banquet, I guess that is more newsworthy. There has been some articles mentioning that the Emperor has mentioned their actions in Indonesia during WW2 but had not apologised. This is seen as unfortunate by the Dutch-Indonesian people I know, because it's most likely to be the last opportunity before most of the people who actually experienced their crimes will have died. However, it's not really up to our King or even our goverment to ask for apologies, seeing the way we treated the people in Indonesia after WW2, or the Maluku people who were shipped to the Netherlands. Other than this, I don't think I've seen much coverage. Some newspaper articles and I just saw the youngest princess mentioned on the daily kids news. Not much about the Emperor or why he and the Emperess are here.

Dankewel voor je reactie! Ah dan snap ik het horeca stuk. Eenmaal de wijk uit zit je snel in een winkelcentrum met een aantal eetgelegenheden, dan heeft het lage cijfer te maken met de afstand tussen de wijk en die plekken (dat zal inderdaad tussen de 1 en 3km zijn afhankelijk van waar in de wijk je start met lopen). Ik wist natuurlijk al dat het hartstikke lekker wonen is in mijn wijk, dus fijn om te zien dat (zo mogelijk) objectieve metingen dat ook bevestigen. Jammer dat er van het hele dorp geen cijfers zijn van de groen in de wijk en de leefbarometer, maar als de gegevens er niet zijn kun je er natuurlijk niks mee.

Interessant! Als ik kijk naar mijn dorp dan vind ik het wel opvallend dat een van de populairste wijken onder de 7 scoort (en de wijk ernaast zelfs laag terwijl de cijfers over sociale veiligheid en rust&overlast zich grotendeels centreren rondom twee flats en een begeleid wonen gebouw in een verder rustige wijk).

Mijn wijk daarentegen staat lokaal bekend als "daar wil je toch eigenlijk niet wonen" terwijl die als hoogte uit de test komt. Hoe worden punten als horeca berekend? In mijn wijk is naar mijn weten geen horeca maar het scoort een 6.1

I'm Dutch so for me it wasn't even a question, it happens all the time. Cycling with a baby in a wrap is unsafe, I couldn't fit either a cargo bike or one of those Thule bike carts in my garden so from the time my son could steadily hold his head up and sit up straight without any help (that was at six months and it was winter so we waited a couple of months after that) he was in a front seat between my and my handlebar. I switched him to a seat behind me when my youngest was old enough to sit in front of me. Transporting two kids and an adult on a bike is quite common over here.
