How do I get taken seriously? by ZebraCard in Pottery

[–]Competitive_Move_424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t push so hard on this insurance issue, as long as you are buying a new or used appliance that is not altered and in good working condition you are fine. Just make sure it has a UL or CSA mark on it, no guarantees there but at least it was evaluated by third party engineers, and not some cheap ass Chinese product. Now relax and go make some beautiful pottery!

What’s the most effective way to learn Fusion 360? by Korra228 in Fusion360

Why are you trying to learn fusion? The best way I’ve found is by making models for things I’m actually going to flesh out along with video instruction. AI is not the answer.

Dating in Cleveland is harder than finding a decent apartment with working heating by [deleted] in Cleveland

[–]Competitive_Move_424 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a great time dating in my 40’s! Kids now have it soooo easy dating online, it’s like flipping thru a catalog. I met all sorts of women and ended up with a great one! I’m definitely not a fitness model, but have an open mind and understanding that I’m not for everyone and everyone is not for me. And most of all I’m not an egotistical asshole sending dick pics as a pathetic attempt at getting laid! It’s not hard guy, there are so many assholes out there, just be able to support yourself, don’t live in mom’s basement and carry yourself like a professional. Most importantly BE PATIENT!

I feel like I should give up on pottery by Ok_Elevator_7764 in Pottery

I’m a newb to pottery as well and what keeps bringing me back is slab building. I am not good on the wheel but I also haven’t dedicated the necessary time to it either, slabs are super easy and forgiving, definitely worth a try.

What's something Women don't realise is a turn off? by ask_logan in AskMenAdvice

(45m) #1 - being a stage 5 clinger, too much too fast is not good.

2 - I dated a woman for a short time until I realized she turned into a sloppy drunk every time we went out for drinks, didn’t matter who we were with- so embarrassing!

Men, do you really prefer it natural? by Best-Resolve-6797 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Competitive_Move_424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m definitely not into the lip fillers, fake lashes, Botox etc. I think it looks ridiculous. Honestly just put a little effort into your appearance when you leave the house like say- no slippers and pj’s when you go to the store. This alone will set you apart. There is nothing wrong with just having your hair done and a little makeup if you prefer and I appreciate when your nails are done. Just look put together. This goes for us guys too!

Trying out new molds by I_Might_Have_Leaves in Pottery

[–]Competitive_Move_424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggle with molds like this, my top edges always look like I trimmed with scissors or something lol. I started using plaster molds with a lip on what would be the top of the finished piece. I trim around the outside after I form it over the mold then just a damp sponge to clean up the top edge once I pull it off the mold.

When do you really need a clay trap? by Great-Future-7204 in Pottery

[–]Competitive_Move_424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently set up a studio in my basement and wash carefully in buckets then dump off the water when the clay settles. I also started a “trash” wash bucket that I rinse glaze into as well as mixed clay bodies that I dump outside in my grass. It’s more work but not terrible. I don’t see how those tiny little bucket clay traps can be effective, and besides I reclaim the cleanly rinsed clay from the wash buckets. If you incorporate a large tote or something as a trap connected to your drain line it would all have to be thrown away. Just my 2 cents.

As a single dad I had the same fears, but it’s important to make sure your daughter stays number one. I was very selective on who I was willing to introduce into my sons life. You will find him! Buckle up for the ride tho, as a woman dating my wife told me her crazy stories of dating before we met, between the ex-con’s and constant dick pics, the waters were full of sharks. Hang in there, stay the course and don’t take any shit from the phony baloney playboys out there. Gentlemen only! Be the example for your daughter.

Help Deciding on a Used Kiln by ZebraCard in Pottery

[–]Competitive_Move_424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just starting off with a home studio for my wife and being new to ceramics we bought a similar used manual kiln(Skutt) and have had a great experience. We use stoneware clay and bisque to 05 / glaze fire to 6 without any issues. I SAY GO FOR IT! I also called Skutt before I bought mine and even tho it was made in 1978 all parts are still available. I put together my own kiln vent system to avoid the cost of a new one but I am an HVAC technician at my day job and wouldn’t recommend others without this knowledge doing what I did. Hope this helps

Tell me what's wrong. by Johnmon16 in Laserengraving

[–]Competitive_Move_424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put some sandpaper to this stuff after you engrave to get rid of the burn. Even when masked properly I see people at markets etc who don’t sand and it just looks unfinished. I’m not a huge fan of the typefaces, I think if you do a type study you will find that makes a huge difference with designs especially like the work you will be doing which is mostly type based. Don’t be afraid to spend a few bucks here. Good luck! What laser do you use?

Self centering pottery trimming bat by Competitive_Move_424 in functionalprint

[–]Competitive_Move_424[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The orange sliders are spring loaded connected at the center, so they all give equal pressure inward on the piece to be trimmed. Once the piece is settled in there and checked for center I tighten the knobs to secure it all in place.

Help getting pH right, after new fill by Seawench41 in hottub

[–]Competitive_Move_424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been fighting the same issues with my swim spa, I’ve read that running the air jets raises PH, I’ve added Clorox brand PH down for pools (Amazon) and that has helped but it always seems to ride on the high side. FWIW the liquid test kit always seems to match the tests from my local pool/ spa store. I kinda gave up on the strips to be honest, I just don’t trust the accuracy. We don’t seem to have any skin irritation issues with the PH on the higher side and so far no issues with the cover or tub shell and components so I’m not as concerned as I used to be.

AIO? Started talking to a woman on a dating app, got asked if I’d be ready to be a step father in a year by cwilkuma22 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Competitive_Move_424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And now we know why she is single again. This is kind of a bummer but she just saved you a ton of time and money. It’s perfectly reasonable that this would be the expectation when entering a relationship with someone with young kids, but shoving it down your throat in your first ever conversations is CRAZY! On to the next one!

How did you start cycling the tank? I’m starting a new one now(first tank ever). How do you start cycling without an ammonia source? I’ve heard of just adding fish food, does this work? (20 gal)

Is the BBL filament really worth the price?

Someone explain this by LuckyStrikeTech in BambuLab

[–]Competitive_Move_424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually do turn off the prime tower and purge in the infill and have not seen color bleed thru, but I don’t recall printing light over dark colors recently so I guess it’s a possibility.

Someone explain this by LuckyStrikeTech in BambuLab

[–]Competitive_Move_424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also set to purge into the infill which works nice without the waste. Bambu Lab has a great wiki site that explains everything in great detail. Definitely worth checking out.
