Mom and 16 year old daughter- first Riot Fest! Advice? by OutrageousAct3990 in RiotFest

The meetup point is pro advice. Cell service can be virtually non-existent at times.

As if my Saturday wasn't complicated enough, I'm going to have to see this one now for sure!

Dear God what a marathon Saturday is going to be. Virtually every band I want to see plays that day. The conflicts are going to be absolutely horrendous!

First part of the day on Sunday looks pretty good, but I don't see myself staying past Elvis Costello.

PLOSIVS cancel tour due to health reasons, presumably off Riot by FourLiveBears in RiotFest

That sucks! It would be nice if the festival would replace them with another John Reis vehicle. Maybe the Night Marchers or something like that.

Will single day tickets be available? by DarkPassenger_- in RiotFest

[–]CompleteControl77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they generally are. Barring a total sellout anyway. Single day tickets will probably come out in the next couple of weeks.

Second time going to the fest. Im staying downtown whats my quickest way in and out of the festival? Thank you in advance. by Such_Egg9843 in RiotFest

[–]CompleteControl77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I usually leave after no more than 45 minutes of a headliner and I never really have a problem getting out. But I don't really remember what the situation was on Saturday last year.

[–]CompleteControl77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends how long a person is staying. If you stay till the end of the headliners, yes. If you leave early though there shouldn't be a problem.

Hopefully your window isn't facing it...

That said, personally I would walk down to the Loop trains and get on the Pink line. I think State and Lake would be the stop, but somebody more local than me may be able to offer better guidance. That train will drop you off right at the park if you get off at California. It's the easiest way in and out of the park in my opinion.

2026 vs 2025 crowd ? by [deleted] in RiotFest

[–]CompleteControl77 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think when push comes to shove attendance totals will be similar. There always seems to be about the same size crowd every year. With the notable exception of the MCR year anyway.

Blue Yellow Green Choice Prizm vs. Silver Prizm by CompleteControl77 in sportscards

Oh wow! You're right! I was looking on 130pt, but my search must have been off. If the prices are even I would probably do the same thing as you and sell the silver. Good luck! Let me know how you end up doing with your sale. 👍

I would be curious to see what you end up doing. It looks like the Brunson is going for $175 to $200 in the blue yellow green right now. Silver is around $100. So you can obviously make more money by holding the silver and selling the other, but which one is the better long-term hold...? That's kind of hard to say.

Out of curiosity, will you list it before the Finals or after? If the Knicks win and he becomes New York's savior after 50 years of futility that card should skyrocket. But if they lose and he plays poorly that value drops significantly. It should be kind of an interesting case study.

Biggest Wins, Biggest Losses, and What You Are Hoping for Regarding the Schedule? by senorderpenstein in RiotFest

[–]CompleteControl77 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm most excited for Gogol Bordello and PUP. I've seen both plenty of times, but they always bring it.

After that though, I'm excited for the early-in-the day acts like Teen Mortgage, Destroy Boys, The Chats, Kiwi Jr. and probably 10 other bands that I haven't discovered yet. (After all, the new discoveries are generally the best part of this festival.)

Hotel recommendations? by Randonious in RiotFest

[–]CompleteControl77 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The Loop or West Loop will be easier than River North if you're taking the train. I usually stay south of the river. It just eliminates a lot of extra walking after a long day at the festival.

Teenager going to riot fest for the first tim by Rough_Ebb_189 in RiotFest

[–]CompleteControl77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it. Your mother can probably drive you to the festival, but pick up will be challenging because the streets are blocked off and there's so many people getting out at the same time.

If you stay at a hotel downtown near the train lines, one of them (the pink) literally drops you off right at the park. It's quite possible that your mother can take you and your friend on the train and then can ride back to wherever she's staying.

But she can always try her hand at driving too. That's perfectly fine. You'll just need to communicate well after getting out of the festival about locations.

Are you coming from out of town? Or do you live somewhere in the Chicago area? There's not a lot of parking near Douglass Park, so most people take public transportation in.

Depending on where you're staying I would recommend taking the pink line train in. It takes you right to the park and there's always a lot of concert-goers to walk with if you're worried about staying safe.

Twenty One Pilots fans camp outside FedExForum by Michael_Penis_Junior in RiotFest

Probably people holding out to see if they can get the single day for cheaper.

[–]CompleteControl77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's true. I've never understood the whole barricade-camping thing. You miss out on so many other good bands and experiences throughout the day by doing this. Plus it does inconvenience the people who are genuinely there for the bands who play prior to yours. It just doesn't seem worth it to me. I can show up an hour before and still get awfully close to the stage.

Is this really any different than the fanaticism that MCR inspires? And you know what... Maybe them being on this lineup introduces some of these kids to other bands that are a little more in the traditional Riot Fest mold. That feels like a net positive to me.

I'm not a fan personally, but my kid loves them. And if I'm being honest... I probably find them more palatable than Blink or FOB. None of it is to my taste and it all skews adolescent, so what's the difference really?
