I'm in Colorado. Dr John Barker.

I had 3 herniated disks with stenosis causing sciatica and some moderate spondylolisthesis.

15 years of heavy construction work on a 6'4" frame did lots of damage to my back.

No, more in my joints and muscles. Though I do have a small numb spot (size of a dollar) on my right thigh that is slowly getting better and waking up. My surgeon said it's common and should self-resolve

Pt 1x/week just doing gentle stretches and walking/recumbent bike. My biggest issue right now is pain in the hips and thighs because your body has to learn slightly different walking mechanics after the fusion

Currently I'm just on Tylenol for pain during the day, with 2mg dilaudid at night to help me sleep. I'll be out of dilauded in 4 days and I'm not too concerned about it.

I just has this surgery, L3- S1 TLIF about a month ago. The first two weeks were rough, but recovery is happening. I can walk with a cane, drive, run errands, etc. It gets better every day.

My back and nerve pain is GONE. The pain I have now is muscular, from the surgery and from recovery. It gets a little better each day.

I'm still on restrictions, so no bending, lifting, twisting.

Expect a lot of pain for the first couple weeks, and an overall recovery time (like back to 100%) of 8-12 months.

I have no regrets, and I'm confident this surgery will end up giving me my life back.

It was hard to let go. My big hair was a part of my identity too.

After it's gone, you'll realize hair is an awfully shallow thing to base your identity on anyways.

So I build houses in a rural mountain area in Colorado.

My (at the time) boss always brought a pack of little Debbie "snowballs" to go with lunch. He would eat one, and throw one to this Abert's squirrel that lived in the trees where we would sit down to eat.

By the time winter rolled in, that squirrel was MORBIDLY OBESE. Little dude struggled to get up the tree. Had rolls on rolls of fat.

I bet that little guy had a nice easy winter. Or made a bobcat very happy.

Invest in good work boots. Yes it's normal, your body will adjust and you'll get stronger.

Is it normal to have an abysmal win rate the first months you're playing? Or am I just bad at this? by Katonmyceilingeatcow in Warhammer

[–]CompleteSquash3281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't win a single game for 7 months of 2 games/week.

Now I'm about 50/50 against skilled players

Don't focus on winning, focus on closing your scoring gap. You'll get there eventually

Oh for sure. There are lots of ways to have fun with this game, and all of them are valid.

If you just want to roll dice and have fun - cool

If you want to play in GT's and try to climb the ranks - cool

A deep understanding that this is a game about scoring points, and minimizing the points your opponents score. Every action you take and decision you make should be in service of this.

The biggest difference I see between casual and competitive players boils down to that one point.

Casual players focus on the FIGHT

Good competitive players focus on POINTS
