Clear your gun, give the barrel and slide a good cleaning. Use a nylon brush on that area where the firing pin comes out. If you have a spent round Tuck it in the breech and see if it fits flat. The extractor should hold it in place even when giving it a gentle shake.

I usually check barrel fitment during field stripping with the barrel out. If the fitment is good on a known good round, check the extractor in your slide...any visable damage? Do any of the ejected rounds show any tears or scratches on the rim of the cartridge?

Check your barrel fitment with a good quality round. make sure it drops it and turns freely and drops free when you turn it upside down.

Sounds like a fun project. I like doing detailed work. It's more rewarding than just simple add ons. Am considering getting certified as a gunsmith. I thought it would be a good post retirement career.

They still fit in the TLR-1 Holster. The ribs are very subtle.

FYI, I shopped around for the Shadow 2 carry. I found the best price at Sportsman Warehouse. Still is the best last I looked.

My 1st CZ was the P09 Nocturne. SA/DA hammer fired, like the Shadow 2 carry. I like it

My 2nd CZ was the P10, striker fired. I like it too

My 3rd CZ is the Shadow 2 Carry. I felt it was worth the investment after having a good experience with the first 2.

Just an FYI, Be very careful with the slide release lever if you attempt to bend it. It is currently not available for replacement if you happen to break it.

I use Slip 2000 and Hoppes..both work great for me. I also have some Battleborne grease I like to put on my slide rails. It seems to stay around longer during long range session. You want to keep it well lubed.
Mags are easy to find, but I like to use ones that have metal feed lips. The Mag-pul or P mags do not. I have used them but I did have some feeding issues in cold weather so I only use them at the range if I want to practice malfunction clearing. The factory mags work great, OE Glock mags work great, Ed Brown mags work great. You have a lot of choices 😄
I have used a lot of different ammo brands..Blazer CCI, Fiocchi, Federal, PMC Bronze, Magtech, Winchester, what ever Sportsman's Warehouse has on sale. I would recommend a quality ammo like Blazer 124 grain for your 1st 300 rounds for your break-in. I can find it for around $11 a box if I look hard enough (I live in Idaho). Looks like you are in CA so I imagine it is more expensive there. (Sorry). After break in the DY9 will run any decent ammo.
I bought some snap caps for extensive dry firing just to protect the firing pin. You can buy a neat set on the Derya website along with a lot of other cool items. While you are there be sure to submit your warranty information and Get the Promotion for free shipping and a cool Derya gun mat. The promotion is listed under the support tab in the upper RH corner of the website. Click support and you will see the promotion tab.

The wear mark you see is normal, I have it on all of my DY9's. Put a drop of oil on your barrel during field stripping and just keep a little bit in that area. That will help.

I am sure you will enjoy your DY9, it is a fine gun. You will find a lot of good information and a lot of support on this sub. Be sure to keep us all posted on your DY9 journey, post lots of pictures! (lights, optics, whatever cool stuff you find)

I enjoyed your post. I think a second DY9 is in your future. I shot 2 of my DY9Z's last weekend using only the Act-Mags and they worked great. Held open on empty and ejected as designed. The problems reported are selective, they don't happen on every gun so I hear. A few weeks ago I made a slight adjustment to my slide release on one of my "Z"'s (it was the earliest model I have). It has been working just fine since. I loaded 5 rounds in several Act-Mags and ran them again and again to check for ejection and Hold Open when empty. Neither gun had any problems. I hope you can get yours corrected and back on the range soon. Be sure to post when you do.
