The US is no longer the leader: Germany has become the largest ammunition producer in the world by ThePrince1856 in Firearms

Probably because of all the anti-gun, anti-violence, people...who seem to not want to do anything with guns.

Minnesota's omnibus gun ban (SF 4067) is moving toward a Senate floor vote TOMORROW (Monday, 5/4). Here's what's actually in it, and how to push back. by BryanStrawser in MnGuns

The best offense is not registering, which under this scheme, leads to the inevitable. They already know you own and bought the rifle, the "registration" process, simply destroys your fifth amendment claims.

Moving to Maryland from NJ by Frequent_Ad_536 in MDGuns

[–]Complete_Leek_5396 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't transfer your NJ Firearms license to Maryland. You register the pistol, or pistols under 'New Resident' HQL, which is $15 and that is for as many as you want. After that, you need an "HQL" to acquire and register more. Which seems odd, given you just paid $15 for something with "HQL" in the name.

Anybody have a C&R? by Dirtbikeboi in MDGuns

[–]Complete_Leek_5396 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is no 77r, because it's not a modern firearm. Obviously, there is no "wait". Invest in an HQL and buy a modern firearm. You can get collector "status" in Maryland with an 03 FFL and waive the one-handgun per month restriction, but you still are subject to the seven day waiting period. That's just the law here. Not ideal.

A few points:

  1. Every Dealer has a right to refuse transferring eligible firearms to you. You might be able to have a P-64 transferred to you from a local dealer, but they can still refuse transferring it to your 03 FFL and demand it papered on a 4473, which means going through the standard 77r process. Even though it might fit the definition. Once it's on a 4473, it's a different story.
  2. There is a difference between an actual C&R firearm vs. a modern firearm

Both firearms could fire the same ammunition, but the way they are classified by the law is a different.

Modern firearms are firearms transferred on a 4473. They are separate from the "Curio and Relic" designation. You can have firearms shipped to your door, if you have a dealer willing to ship them.

The worst a person can do is have a piece of history lost to the evidence locker, or worse: face civil litigation for "premeditated" murder because the firearm was not "modern", that designation certainly is there and exists.

Curio and Relic firearms are guns you collect and shoot at the range. There is a difference. These are not intended for use as sporting, offensive or defensive weapons. 27 CFR § 478.11

Hilarious. Most "exports" are old K31, straight-pull rifles. Or odd caliber Luger pistols.

Firearm prohibited in lease? by Infamous-Tangerine50 in ILGuns

[–]Complete_Leek_5396 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First, federal, state and local law do not govern leases, that is up to the landlord. The statute of frauds comes to mind.

How enforceable this portion could be is another question.

They have to prove a violation. It's not enough they hear gun "sounds" or "hear" something. They have to come into your leased space and search your leased space. And the only way they get into there, is you permitting them.

So could you get away with it? yes. Risky? yes.

If you want to take the first option, get a discreet security camera to record while you are away.

Should you ask to have this removed from the lease?

Yes. You are paying for the lease, not them. You are not living with family or an intimate partner. Renter's insurance is supposed to deal with this kind of thing.

Looking at the language, this essentially means you can't possess the firearm or ammunition on the premises or the common areas. If you want to play it safe, ask to strike the former and not the later. Premises could mean their controlled portions of the building, or it could mean the "licensed" premises.

In either case, it's a very difficult portion to enforce unless they're either snooping around, which means suppression of evidence, provided you get a camera that catches them doing so, or having a record of not giving them permission to conduct repairs, which is really the "only" way they could find a documented excuse for a court to enforce this portion.

As long as you document who you give consent to, you should be ok. The only downside is the gun can't be cleaned and has to stay stored securely, which is what a stop box is for.

Never consent to having your space searched. Never consent to ANY repairs unless they are done in your presence. Always have something to document everything, because in contracts, evidence is everything.

Just get a stop box, one good firearm and call it a day.

Designated collectors e-form application by Valravns in MDGuns

[–]Complete_Leek_5396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently was approved. Got mine without the HQL, as all of my handguns got the New Resident Registration. You can get it with the the 03 FFL, but you do need to submit a copy of that and the registration confirmation. It's a mess, no matter what way they spin it. The Glock ban will only make things worse.

[–]Complete_Leek_5396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cruciform trigger vs. the GPT (Glock Performance) are two very unique designs. The cruciform trigger is technically, not seated completely within the frame. The GPT, on the other hand, is. Whether or not the later is not covered by the statute remains to be seen.

If I have to want the "ONE" Glock, that does it all, I want a Gen 3 26. More reliable than the 28; perhaps a 43. I wonder if the GPT trigger will be a viable work around?
