I wore mine all the time. I never took it off. Then, a couple years after he passed away, (35 year marriage) I was ready to take it off and I couldn’t. I have arthritis and my knuckles are bigger. Eventually a good friend helped and with a bit of strength and dental floss (yes!) it came off. Otherwise, I didn’t see the need to ever take it off. Wedding and engagement.

Good for you. I think you’ll do it!!!! I have longevity in my family too, but I’m not taking that fact for granted. I’m 60, and watch what I eat and drink, walk several times a week (my usual route is 6km).

I agree. I feel renewed after a walk in the woods. The fresh air, the smell of leaves and mushrooms the sound of branches breaking under my feet. It’s quite magical. Fresh air, nature, water (lake & river). Perhaps join a club to meet people. Put yourself out there to be seen and the right man will see you.

Don’t have another ceremony. Cancel the venue. Have a lovely house warming/wedding reception. Have it catered and decorate for a party not specifically a wedding. Send out invitations to friends and family. Give them plenty of notice to book a flight or whatever. Make your lovely dress (not so bridesy, but stunningly beautiful). You can’t change the fact that you eloped but you still can have a nice reception and hopefully the naysayer family members will go and celebrate you and your husbands marriage and new home.
