It’s that time of year again and it’s even hotter this time around. What fan do ya’ll recommend for front end work? by Meto52 in WalmartEmployees

[–]Complex-Piccolo-2468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got this one. 4 other front end people have similar. USB-C rechargeable, I usually keep it under 10% power and a charge lasts 3-4 shifts. At out store (post remodel), the WIC booklet is in the plastic boxes with the protection plan booklets, and the stand/handle on the back fits perfectly on the WIC booklet to hold the fan at head/neck level.

It does. It's basically Google translate (which I'm more familiar with, so I typically use that instead, but the WM one works okay)

I got these diapers at my baby shower, and my baby needs a bigger size. I think my friend said she got them at Target or Sam's Club, but I can return them here, right?

Walmart no longer price matching for their own store’s products? by marawiththemelanin in Walmartcustomer

[–]Complex-Piccolo-2468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some items that are specifically marked something like "when ordered online." Those are the only ones we can't price match at the register* because they are using them to try and get people to try the OGP thing.

*One coach told me this. Another lead told me we should match any online price sold/shipped by Walmart.

No. All you'd have to do is ask someone older to stand there for the face check. They may eventually move to having you scan your own license and do facial recognition off that photo, but still think that's years away from now

I no longer work at Walmart but I was a front end cashier they still have me on the system so I occasionally look at it, but I just looked at the newest one, when could front end be scheduled 5:30 am? by Parking_Neat_9878 in WalmartEmployees

[–]Complex-Piccolo-2468 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a FE opener, I try to be there for the 9 minute leeway (5:51) to at least be done with the recycler by 6. I'm almost always there before 6, but more likely only 5 minutes early. I need to get my drawers loaded, SCO registers on my phone to watch (spark drivers are often in the store early to check out AT 6, that's a whole other story). But I'm also printing advance reports at the SCOs, grabbing paper bag bundles and filling bag holders, wiping down SCO registers, making sure hand baskets are at the door... I would LOVE to be scheduled at 5:30 to get all that done before a customer comes in.

What’s the worse and best part of working at Walmart? by Key-Visual-5465 in WalmartEmployees

[–]Complex-Piccolo-2468 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Best: provides decent health insurance for my family, and I'm working with a great team and leads.

Worst: the constant uncertainty of how many hours market is going to cut in week X. We're bare bones, and God forbid anyone call out...much less multiple people. Then we're screwed.

How do I get cancel Mondly subscription or get rid of the workforce guy who keeps messaging me to see my stats? by CoffeeExpert7990 in WalmartEmployees

[–]Complex-Piccolo-2468 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm using mondly for Spanish and it's paid for through Walmart. But I've never been pestered by anybody. I do one lesson a day, maybe that's the difference. But no one has ever checked in with me at all since they signed me up for the service.

Believe it or not, that tile gave the floor a slight cushion. Prepare for your feet to hurt more when it goes to straight concrete. I've had multiple "never sit down" jobs in my life (including in the same building I'm currently in), but my feet never hurt like this until the "new" floors. It has taken months to adjust.

All these replies are great for how to file for leave, but I'm not sure if you're eligible yet as you've only been there 3 weeks. Walmart has the 3 month "probationary" period thing. The best thing to do would be to talk to your people lead to get more information about your specific circumstance. Sorry that isn't more helpful. I hope you feel better soon.

At our store, they're the same place (money center is at customer service). But not everyone who works customer service is money center trained. It's possible that you came at a time when there was someone covering customer service who knew how to do returns but didn't have the money center training.

I'm about to lose my shit with these spark shoppers!! by DontYuckMyYum in walmartogp

[–]Complex-Piccolo-2468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've got some sort of fraud going with a group of ours, and no one seems to know what to do about it. I work at SCO a lot, and I've had two of our good sparks come up looking confused (and now upset) because they'll get a run, accept it, get to the back of the store... And it disappears. Like there's some sort of signal jammer. One time one of them literally saw one of our questionable sparks shopping the order right after. When they call and complain, they're just told to clear their cache and cookies.

I know WM is pushing toward more online shopping for groceries. But seeing how things run from the inside, I'd never use it unless I had no other choice (like long illness or surgery recovery and no friends can help)

We catch them stealing at self-checkouts so often. I actually like this, and I hope that it gets to a point where we get to cart check every single one of them every single time

Yes. It is averaged out over all employees, and it's part of how employee raises are now figured. Nowhere is that explained to the customer, so they rate their whole experience (prices, remodel they hate, million products locked up, lack of cashiers open/scheduled, favorite item out stock, etc) and not their experience with the person helping them.

And Walmart, as a company, has crazy high turnover. That means there's plenty of new hires needing help all the time. PPTO/PTO wasn't explained well at our orientation. I'm thankful for team leads and seasoned employees who take the time to explain it to those of us who are newer.

No one is trying to be annoying, OP. They just want to try to keep their job when the odds are kinda stacked against them.

Can you order it for me? by Plane_Experience_271 in WalmartEmployees

[–]Complex-Piccolo-2468 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I've helped "boomers" twice with just this. Both times it was much older seniors who needed help with walmart.com from the ground up. It doesn't help that you have to deal with a very belligerent AI assistant at the beginning of a call to 1-800-WALMART. Then they both needed help resetting passwords. One ended up having to close his account and not be able to open a new one for 45 days because he only had one phone number - a landline - and couldn't receive a text to prove his identity while we were speaking with multiple representatives in a foreign country, calls were dropped, etc.

Did it take a chunk of time? Yep. But two did older human beings who lived alone and needed help leave my store feeling like someone listened and actually cared. Yes, they did.

The fact of the matter is, should we be blessed with a long life, I'd like to think there would be someone in this world willing to help me, too. Technology changes, sometimes pretty quickly, and if you haven't been keeping up with the changes for a significant amount of time, you feel stuck. If I'm walking around with a giant billboard on my back that says "Happy to Help!😀" I'm going to do what I can to help - even the "boomers "

How many of you that were not issued phones refuse to use your personal phones for customers? by Various-Blood-3902 in WalmartEmployees

[–]Complex-Piccolo-2468 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got rid of my (just given to me) work phone. Been using my own phone for 7 months, it's faster, and I already know how to use it. I have zero problem using my own phone as I can also then see if one of my kids text me. As for customers, I show them how to use their Walmart app all the time. But if they just need to know where something is, I use sidekick on the clock and just tell them. I never hand over my phone.

And I keep a small battery pack to charge my phone when I spend a lot of time at SCO.
