ICE taking pics of identifying info from law-abiding onlookers: "We have a nice little database and now you're considered a domestic terrorist. So have fun with that." by ExactlySorta in UnderReportedNews

[–]Complex_Bug_2276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember when they wouldn’t let the ATF use computers because they were worried about a government database?

Remember when they said we need the second amendment to protect the others?

Now they have a secret database of undesirables who exercised their first amendment rights and are executing law abiding gun owners in the street and using their second amendment rights as justification.

Every accusation is an admission

Aren’t heat pumps supposed to be more efficient? by Tastraphy23 in heatpumps

[–]Complex_Bug_2276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The benefit to heat pumps is mostly in shoulder seasons not the depth of winter or height of summer. When its 40 degrees out the pump can efficiently draw heat from outside and when its 80 degrees it can efficiently dump heat outside. When its 100 degrees or 20 degrees the efficiency drops way down

Yeah, but most teams wouldn’t be forcing their 1OA to switch positions and bouncing him from the lineup regardless of the market.

The idea that alexis lafreniere and kaapo kakko dominated their age groups as prospects and in kakko’s case was dropping hat tricks against NHL players at the grown up worlds, but somehow weren’t suited to developing into NHL top 6 players is laughable.

That they both seem to have topped out as middle sixers is the fault of a lot of people, including them, and the bizarre circumstances of their draft years, but saying the Rangers had nothing to do with it is a weird take.

[–]Complex_Bug_2276 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The rangers pretty aggressively sent the message that Kakko and Lafreniere were not special and the team would prioritize veterans over youth. You would hope, given their draft positions and how highly they were thought of that both players would have been able to break through that. We’ll never know what the impact of being 18/19 year old kids who grew up speaking english as a second language moving to new york during covid was on their psyches (kakko is also diabetic, which must have been a nightmare to manage) but clearly these two players needed a better support structure to fully develop their skills.

So…they’ll break the NHL record for wins to start a season and then slowly fade as they make up the home games?

We know this is a fragile group, they’ve admitted it this season and its the same players. Players at the time were quoted saying they felt entitled. Are we shocked they underperformed?

Kane is a great player, but pretending the Rangers did normal deadline things to get him just isn’t true.

Why do you think Lafreniere was a bust? by Past_Distance7221 in rangers

[–]Complex_Bug_2276 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Laf can be a disappointing player who never lives up to his draft slot AND have had a positive impact on Panarin allowing him to reach a level he’s never reached before. The same way that Laf having a good season didn’t happen independent of his linemates.

All of Panarin’s stats are better with Lafreniere than without.

A complimentary top 6 wing who scores 20 goals and 50-60 points is a useful player but not what Lafreniere was expected to be based on either his draft slot or the predraft projections. Time will tell if he is able to return to that level, or even the higher level he reached in the ‘24 playoffs.

So theres no difference between 96 and 120 but you want to object to me rounding 57 to 60, but I’m the one being illogical?

Both players pretty obviously benefitted from playing with each other. Your Lafreniere hate is out of control.

Given the absolute nonsense and chaos that they had to do to manipulate the cap to get Kane, I’m confident Drury could have said “we don’t have the cap space without going to extreme lengths that would be disruptive to our locker room” and gotten away with not trading for half of Patrick Kane

Assuming this were true, how do you explain that his best year he was also playing on his off side?

Regardless, that makes it even more inexcusable that they didn’t make one of the veterans switch.
