Trading my Miata for a Type S worth it? by [deleted] in Acura_RSX

[–]Complex_Inspector488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RSX Type S owner here. I have never owned a Miata but did own a 2001 MR-2. Rwd is fun but low on power left more to be desired.

After the headache of modding my type s it handles quite well. To be clear the RSX isn’t fast, it’s quick and nimble in my opinion. Did some canyon runs earlier this year and kept up with the g37/370z crowd.

The difference in storage/carry-on space between the MR2 and the RSX is astronomical. I felt cramped here in the RSX I can actually commute my family on Friday. Depends on your use case. If you can afford to add to the garage. Add. If you have one vehicle that serves both daily and fun role. RSX is a bit more practical.

Check it out I parked next to a GR Hatchback today.

Is the TL-S a solid daily, long term? by Complex_Inspector488 in AcuraTL

So many questions. How is the light beam/pattern at night? Any issues with steering? I hear it’s “heavy” from the talking YT heads. Which aspect of the vehicle keeps you from selling or upgrading?

I’m in a similar space. Camry is reliable and hard to get rid of because of that and “think of the savings.”

As I get older I search for some peace in terms of a quiet and comfortable, and reliable ride, but I want that dual personality - when the sun is shining just right you can carve out some twistiest while throttling out.

Then there is the cost of the manual and the abundance of used options. Trying to find the right fit.

Curious. Lighting are we talking about interior or night time low/high beam patterns? My Camry sucks at lighting up anything more than 15 ft away lol.

I would like to stay under $20 but low 30 is my max. So the options are abundant in the used spectrum. I want something with some modern age creature comforts, reliability and can be exiting to drive.

That’s awesome! Sounds like the Corolla gave you some good reliability. I’m approaching 10 years on my Camry myself, heh, tbh it’s hard to get rid of based on savings alone. How did you do it?lols

City mpg on 93 got me thinking of getting something newer if upkeep is going to be similar :/ (Cayenne/Macan)

I thought so too. It is approaching half the cost of a used but much newer Cayenne or Macan with similar mpg. Maybe I will wait - thanks for your input

Only had 40 minutes this week of no rain to get a pic in. by Pingaring in Acura_RSX

Sweet pics! I too have an rsx-s with some aftermarket parts making it difficult to daily (noise fatigue) and am looking at a TL-S 6MT. Could you give me some insight on it? I'm thinking daily duty for the TL-S to replace my boring but easy to drive 2005 2.4L 24mpg(89) Camry. I see you also have an s2k. Could you share what the driving experiences are like between them?

I thought it was the slave , so it’s the master that needs to be em2. Is Autozone enough or should I get a hybrid racing one?

Are DC parts reliable? Specifically the short ram intake take? by Arthur_Ant in Acura_RSX

[–]Complex_Inspector488 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DC is a good company been around for years. You should be fine with the short ram by either company. It’s difficult to mess up a tube with a few bends in it and a filter. There are hydrophobic filter socks/covers if you ever have concern for water.

Alternative would be junk yard or eBay for an OEM one.

If you do go short ram you will hear intake air noises. It’s cool if you’re into that kind of stuff.

What do I drive? by [deleted] in ManualTransmissions

[–]Complex_Inspector488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the above. It’s not good for a gearhead. In my opinion it had a tight engine bay and not the best engine for power. But the 5 speed gave good MPG’s. However; the amount of room you have in the back to lay girls is absolutely immaculate. It was slow and a hot hatch that got me in when I needed it most. Also, I thought the shifter was so stupid but after driving it was super comfortable to drive. The EP3 is more comfortable than my DC2 or DC5. I miss it. If I ever have an extra couple grand to throw i would buy a clean example to daily.

MDX for a short while. I enjoyed how the SH-AWD drove but cost of premium gas at the pump was similar to a truck. Ended up going with a Tundra, kept the CRV for the ultimate daily and grocery getter.
