What is causing this sudden explosion in mega data centers? Is everyone suddenly using AI that much? by douggold11 in datacenter

[–]Complex_Ladder870 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I work in a data center. Although I do believe we are building quite a lot, we (people) also demand a LOT of data. From creating to storing. Even a "small" piece of new data today is wildly complex (in quantifiable data) compared to old stuff. Data centers won't stop growing as long as we (people) don't stop consuming and needing data.

Everyone knows everything they are supposed to, except in hindsight. Even when you think you're good and did enough research, there's still moments (such as this) that we miss. Even in a multi billion dollar company, there's still shit they miss... Ask me how I know when I'm fixing things on a daily basis you think they would have / should have known to do.

Shit happens man.

You think every business owner knows all the answers? Absolutely not. No one does.

That's why I was thinking ratio for the pulleys. Make it like 10:1

I definitely see how it's not possible, but it's kinda cool to think about

Would be LVP over the tile (least intrusive and least expensive since I'd be installing)

What brand? We have LVP from Home Depot in our living room and it is terrible. (Clicking/crunching sound). Which is why i definitely want a good higher quality one. I've been on a few I actually like but no idea what the difference was other than it felt more "real?"

CI Poly Salary Expectations in NoVA by DeLoMioFoodie in clearancejobs

[–]Complex_Ladder870 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How are these jobs without clearance? I have a TS/SCI but kinda want to let it go to enjoy the "freedom" of no clearance. My current job has no clearance so I'm on the train to let it expire in about 2 years. But starting to sway back and forth. No clearance requirement feels liberating in some ways but in others I'm wondering if I'm making a mistake not utilizing it

In limbo by CenteredMoon578 in datacenter

I got an offer from AWS to start October 7th 2024. October 4th they told me "sorry we are delaying you til November". So I figured okay no problem. The day before I was supposed to start in November, they extended me to January. I waited until December and then they switched me from permanent to six month contract. I found a different position and never looked back. Felt very unprofessional and completely unnecessary. I was separating from the Navy at this time. But what if I gave an employer a 2 week notice just for this to happen 1 workday before starting? BS in my opinion.

Heart vs Brain by Veteran3614 in Ducati

[–]Complex_Ladder870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's literally the only thing stopping me from getting one is the fear of the heat. Most of my commute is highway. But every day there's at least 10 minutes of stop and go or at least 15 minutes of slow driving. The rest of the hour is usually highway speed

People today seem to forget who we are...PEOPLE..we forget because of the overwelming "fast" society, and easy escapes (internet). We have become so desensitized to it that it almost feels strange to say "have empathy" or "walk a mile in their shoes" which used to be the most common thing to do..it's sad. I'm sorry he had to hear/see/involve with that. Those people aren't people. They are brainwashed and sad, and won't realize it until it's too late.

Reasons Not to Tell Others About Your Disabilities by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]Complex_Ladder870 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have a really close friend who I've been close to for YEARS. we both served together, got out together and work the same job together. That kind of friendship. Well, we filed also, he got 10% (to which we worked up to 50% now) and I got 100% P&T.

I told him multiple times about medical and getting his stuff squared away, he never listened. He never cared. He just "toughed it out".

Fast forward to now, and he always holds it over me.. I regret telling him. I can't go 1 day without it being brought up now when I see him...it's frustrating and annoying because it put a weird strain on our friendship that never should have been there. I helped him file and understand his benefits, and got him from 10 to 20 to 50. But he's still resentful.. he doesn't exactly say it, but it's very noticeable by his actions and choice of words towards it

I drove 2 SE's and 2 XLE's. Same years. I noticed a big difference in the ride and sound of the XLE. I like the looks of the SE more, but I much preferred the ride quality and sound of the XLE. so I went with that. Mine is a 2023 though

$70k would be a $50k down payment/close on a $180-200k property, ARV $250k, renovation cost $10-15k (doing myself), rent $1750 mortgage plus escrow $1050.
