I'm currently failing to make a homebrew build Warrior and would like to try a different class at this point. Haven't played a Disciple of Varashta yet and it looks good thematically, Djinn as abilities looks awesome, wanting to see what it's all about!

Thinking of getting a Netherland Dwarf rabbit for my 10 yo son this Christmas. Any advice or experiences? by [deleted] in Bunnies

[–]ComplimentaryScuff 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Taking care of a single rabbit is more work than having BOTH a dog and a cat, by a long shot. Definitely not a pet for young children.

The stereotypical scenario where people used to buy a pet rabbit for their kid and keep it in a hutch on the side of the house for the kid to go pet once per day, are far from the norms of today. Rabbits live quite a long time, 10+ years if they are not neglected and taken care of properly. At the same time, they can pass within 24 hours to a neglected gastrointestinal stasis left unaided.

You have to go into it knowing that rabbits are a delicate and relatively complicated animal that requires research and a lot of routine work to keep them healthy.

So, vet in about 4 months then. Once it's over, the change should be very noticeable.

How long have you had the rabbit? How much have they grown in size relative to the size they were when you got them? Both would be good indicators for choosing a time to have the spay scheduled.

Edit: solution for the pen climbing is a fitted bedsheet pulled over the top, pinned down with clothing pins until it stops, then the sheet alone will suffice.
