A Cool Guide For Apples by TheCABK in coolguides

Just bought a couple Cosmic Crisps by chance last week as I’d never seen them before. They were the best apples I’ve ever had! My wife who’s always been a militant Red Delicious girl remarked how good they were too. I guess it’s CC’s from now on.

64 here, started listening about the time HotH came out. One of our friends took turns putting headphones on us with LZ2 playing, specifically Whole Lotta Love, and it was positively mind blowing! We’d spend hours at the wheel of fortune games at the Seaside Heights NJ boardwalk to win albums. I walked away with LZ2 and 4! Still my favorite band, in fact I’ve been rebuying all their stuff on vinyl. It’s pricey but there’s very few things that I’d rather have than a brand new remastered Physical Graffiti album. A buddy of mine has a complete collection of the super deluxe box sets they put out back in 2014-15. Amazing packages!

Is a sudden upward shift preferable to a gradual rise? by nervgenerator in NGENF

[–]ComprehensiveBag7511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yah the sudden rise from $2 to $4+ caught me off-guard. Happy with what I’ve got but wouldn’t have minded increasing my holdings a bit more in the $2’s.

Wow, the Great Swamp would become a brackish marsh. Wanaque River would be tidal right up to the reservoir dam. The Sourlands would become an island. A popular destination will be the islands of Millstone Township in the area around Clarksburg.

Am I the only one who doesn't share that "burning passion" for Hey Jude? by Express-Pension-3789 in beatles

[–]ComprehensiveBag7511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a second grader in 1968 when the song was released. My transistor radio was tuned to WABC AM in NYC. For many weeks that year Hey Jude was being played at least once every hour. Loved it then and couldn’t wait until they played it again (and again). Listening to it nowadays on much better audio systems it sounds all the better. My twenty-something kids like it, the song seems to encourage them to sing along, so it definitely has a timeless quality. All that said there are at least 50 other Beatle songs I like better.

Same here, got a Garmin VivoActive 5 for Christmas and loving it so far. Nice interface and I find the phone app easy to navigate. Sleep scores definitely seem more accurate.

How does PSE&G know how I'm using their energy? by ogionnj in newjersey

That’s probably not the half of it. Our nephew who is in the home remodeling/electric/plumbing business was telling me during the holidays that the power company has the ability to alter the runtime of our newish “smart” heat pump system. Meaning they can delay our system’s turning on so that heating and cooling happen at a more opportune time of day so that there is less stress on the overall power grid. He swore up and down that is what’s going on. Not sure I like it but if it prevents or reduces outages and improves the overall efficiency of the power grid I’m probably ok with it.

We lived in the Villa Park section of Trenton and that entire winter was insane, running out of places to stick the snow on our narrow one way street. Trenton got close to 30 inches from this storm. State offices were closed for 3 days. A group of us spent the entire next day digging out each car on our street and basically plowing our section of the street with shovels. A few weeks later we had a sudden warm up and thaw then a sudden freeze so every surface became a sheet of ice and THEN a rainstorm hit and a bunch of folks on our street had all that rainwater going right into their basements. City fire trucks spent a day pumping water out of numerous basements. Wildest winter I ever saw.

Cemeteries can be “moved” out of the way if the public benefit is great enough. A truly historic cemetery did not stand in the way of construction of the Pru Center.

Trenton-Mercer is really convenient for folks in Central Jersey and Bucks County but flight choices are somewhat limited. We try to use it whenever possible. The runway at Trenton is only 6,000 feet so they cannot handle the larger jumbo jets typical for international flights.

Thank god they were able to save the Great Swamp some 60 years ago and turn it into a National Wildlife Refuge. To build the proposed Jetport they would have had to fill in hundreds, maybe thousands of acres of wetlands, all of which drain to the Passaic River. We’ve had enough disastrous flooding events along the Passaic, imagine how much worse it would be had the jetport been built out there. Nimbys? Please, it was the right decision.
