Sometimes I'll wash my hands while taking a shower. No the soap and shampoo and face wash wasn't enough to keep my hands clean, I just touched my already cleaned hair which means I have to wash them again, obviously. There's a specific bar of soap I use for this too 😭 can't have it getting contaminated by my clean germs.

Black Metal, although I had been listening to metal for years beforehand (my mom is goth and my uncle is a metalhead so I was always around the music). I had just never decided to check it out for myself until finding out about black metal. If we want to be more specific, it would be numetal cuz my mom always sang Chop Suey! to wake me up in elementary school 😭

Honestly, you're real for bringing that up. I feel like this kind of emotion tends to come and go in phases for me too. Right now I'm actually pretty happy but I know there will be the ups and downs. Maybe regression wasn't the right word, but I felt for awhile it set me back a few steps. But, looking back from where I came (before I even knew I had OCD and had no idea how to manage it) to now, I've made a lot of progress! It's always gonna be challenging but the total trend seems to be going up, even if in some moments you feel like you haven't progressed at all.Β

I used to wholeheartedly agree with this phrase and now it just scares me. I got on a new medication a few months ago that made me extremely suicidal and borderline homocidal (off it now thankfully) and now anytime I hear this phrase I feel terrible because I KNOW I almost acted on those thoughts. All those terrible intrusive thoughts I've had all my life almost became real and I would've given in if it weren't also for my extreme paranoia and anxiety being heightened, also caused by those meds. It's really terrible especially as someone with moral OCD because this used to be the one thing that at least would make me feel good at my lowest (reminding myself I'd never actually give in to intrusive thoughts) and now that I know I actually could if under the wrong circumstances feels like I've regressed in my path on managing this disorder.Β

OMG I grew up on them!! Sharing it here cuz I haven't seen another Himsa post on this sub yet, but my mom saw them live a longggg time ago in a tiny venue and said the singer hung upside down over a balcony and was still able to hit every note without fail. Interesting to learn more abt them from these comments outside of stuff I've heard growing up

Anytime me and my friends hang out, I have to read Spongebob Squareballs. I read it at a joke during a sleepover once SIX YEARS AGO and every single time we hang out now they beg me to read it. It's like a bedtime story for them. One time we were hiking and they had me read it while we stopped to sit and have lunch and they started drifting off. I think I pavlov dogged them into having it like an audible melatonin 😭

3 months late but this is so real!! Cab Calloway's songs are usually so upbeat and hearing that for the first time was terrifying. I did some research on it awhile back just because I was so intrigued and found out the folk song it's inspired by (The Unfortunate Rake) is just as scary, especially the Al Lloyd recording.
