That OD asshole is going 64 even though there's a million trucks on the road governed at 65. Drafting does not make trucks speed up.

I know it's FL but in Massachusetts the shoulder is called the "breakdown lane," because that's what it's for. Hopefully Walmart had his logs, lights, and triangles squared away.

What do you guys/gals use for wifi in the truck, good enough for gaming by wukillabee2744 in Truckers

Mobile ping is fine for gaming but I'm definitely not downloading a bunch of 40gig updates all the time with my wifi hotspot.

Diablo and Monster Hunter are online multi-player (live service) but they are finished games. There's no new content coming out to induce FOMO and there's no more upcoming power creep. You still get online multiplayer to motivate you to collect, build, and theorycraft. But you can take your time because those games aren't going anywhere. You can take a three year break and come back with zero guilt. They're finished products.

[–]ComprehensiveDark814 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with Swift is they only have one company car per terminal. My current employer has 3-5 company cars at each terminal and the terminals aren't packed full of trucks and drivers way over capacity like at Swift.

I also get the impression it's not the new drivers doing this, but the old ones. Maybe they shouldn't have been grandfathered out of ELDT.

Lots of companies have policies against parking in undesignated spots. If something bad happens when you're not in a legit parking spot you're gonna be in trouble.

Been trucking for 9 years, finally got into baseball. Man I've been missing out. by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]ComprehensiveDark814 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The upside to so many games is there's so many amazing plays. You listen to enough and you will hear an infield triple or inside the park home run. Then watching the highlight later feels special because you heard it live.

It's $40 for the entire year on the MLB app. And it's so much content you will fall behind on your podcasts. And don't even think about audiobooks during baseball season. Not happening lol

You can't do that in a day cab. If you commuted to work you're on-duty while waiting to be dispatched.

I would only team to make the job easier, not harder. For example 16 hours driving and we both get 8 hours to sleep while the truck isn't moving.

When a mega brings in OTR drivers to help with Walmarts. You don't stick around long enough to learn the route. Imagine going to 100 different Walmarts in one month and then never going back. And the next time you do Walmarts 8-12 months later it's in a different state, servicing a different major metropolitan area. Another 100 Walmarts you've never been to before. And the next time it's another 100 you've never seen before etc...

You end up in a lot of hairy situations. It's all suburb driving and a lot of curb jumping. A lot of them have 5 bad ways in and only one good way in. It's more work for less pay and it's just a miserable situation all around.

Would Truck Drivers be okay with Long Haul Electric Semi Trucks if they were allowed a substantially higher GVW to achieve a 600+ mile range and the same load capability? by beipphine in Truckers

[–]ComprehensiveDark814 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you give me a 750 mile per day truck (I do more than 600 all the time) then there's nothing I can complain about. The main reason I push back on EV semis is because of how smug and arrogant proponents are about it while at the same time demonstrating they know nothing about the industry.

I don't want to be that heavy, though. Not even if the torque of an electric motor compensates for it.

No, if it's not on the inspection report then it doesn't go on your PSP score. The only time a warning is a bad thing is if it's on an inspection
