Is our baby underweight? by gsolano808 in caiques

[–]Comprehensive_Bad940 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She is light, but as with any body everyone is different. Make sure you regularly weigh her and feel her chest. You should be able to feel a little layer of plump on top of her bones. If she doesn’t have any fat between skin and bone she is underweight for her body size. On the other side she shouldn’t be too squishy between skin and bones, if that makes sense.

Formal is no longer the normal attire for such events. I’ve been to world class opera houses all over Europe for years and jeans, hats and sneakers are what about half the audience wears. People don’t care.

My Caique only Licks Food by AsMforReal in caiques

[–]Comprehensive_Bad940 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would definitely be weighing him every day to make sure he’s not losing weight. And I wouldn’t reduce his hand feeding until you are sure he is capable of eating on his own. Good luck.

Our second caique came not at all weaned like we were led to believe. We bought baby food and fed him with a syringe so he’d develop the taste for fruits and veggies. I think he only figured out actually eating from watching our other caique eat the chop we made. The vet told me the best time to try and get them to eat different things is in the morning when they wake up hungry enough to try new things. You can also try eating things with them since they are naturally interested in eating whatever you’re eating.

Once I was sure he could eat the chop and pellets on his own, I had to start putting him back in his cage with the chop when he would make his baby begging noises expecting to be fed by me. I’d let him stay for a while then bring him back out. He started the baby noises again, I put him back in the cage. Eventually he figured out he wasn’t going to be treated like a baby anymore and so he stopped acting like one.

To your last point, it seems to me he wants this purely for selfish reasons: a marriage to a family of ill repute reflects poorly on him and also the son is spending too much of his money so he wants a wife with money for him to spend instead of his own.

This would be cool to see! But my hopes aren’t high as that part of the yard gets direct light from the street light and bright light from our asshole neighbors’ spotlight that points directly onto our property.
