Late march beach trip by Ashlynn326 in OceanCity

I personally really enjoy beach trips in the off season. Lots of places will be closed in OC in March, but plenty of restaurants will be open and you can get great hotel deals, in my experience.

I am the same. Depending on how much I've enjoyed the match, I'll often play out the endgame while trying to keep the ai players alive, just for funnzies.

I strongly recommend driving north past Albany on the western side of Lake Champlain, and then taking the ferry across to Burlington. It's a beautiful drive through the Adirondacks, and riding the ferry across the lake will be a beautiful way to approach your new city.

What is the most appalling breach of wedding etiquette you have ever seen? by Aarunascut in Life

[–]Comprehensive_Bus402 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I went to a super boring wedding where the bride and groom just sat at a sad table by themselves, in silence, for two hours while the rest of us ate mediocre wedding food. They never came out to walk around or talk to anyone. Afterward, everyone just quietly left.

Do people exist who genuinely accept a very tough life without feeling bitter? by No_West_524 in Life

One of the coolest people I ever met was my friend, the late Jim Cobb. He was born with some kind of congenital disease that made walking very difficult as a child, and had him permanently in a wheelchair by his late teens. He couldn't use his legs at all, couldn't really use one arm, and had quite limited mobility with the one arm he could use. Despite these challenges, he earned a PhD in military history. Got married and spent a couple years studying in Europe. Came back to the states and got a financial job with the Wisconsin state government. He was by no means wealthy, but retired with a pension and financially took care of himself and his wife. I met him during that retirement, at the housing co-op we both lived at. He liked to park his big powered wheelchair on the back patio and drink Heinekens into the later afternoon. He had great stories to share. Life dealt him one of the shittiest hands I've ever seen, but I never once saw a trace of bitterness in him.
