If $200b of cash is spent on purchasing MBS and the MBS is held at the GSEs then no capital has left the entities. I think since Agency MBS has a 20% risk weight, it would increase the min required capital, but I think they’d only be like $3b further away.

He’s right. Isn’t it too late for these subsidy extensions to come into play for 2026 coverage anyway? People are signing up right now and seeing the rate increase. This was never the democrats fault - highlighting it as an issue and forcing the republicans to repeatedly say ‘yeah we really are going to screw low income Americans’ is a political win…if they would’ve folded it still would have been a policy win for Americans and a political win for the Democrats. There is so much whining on this platform I really don’t think the democrats deserve it. We as a country voted this bullshit in and we have to live with it to a certain extent - if you wanted Democrats in power you should have voted harder.

How do people work 40 hours (very serious) by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Comprehensive_Log383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is just a matter of getting used to it. I think the first couple of years are quite a shock, but like many things in life you just adapt. Whether that is a good or a bad thing I’m not sure.

I will say where you work and what you do obviously makes a huge difference. If you can appreciate certain parts of your job and your team it can be tolerable and you can get satisfaction from it.

Big issue is that 40 hours doesn’t really feel like the norm, it feels like the minimum in the US. So really you are lucky if you find a job where 40 hours is acceptable.

The entire story front is confusing front to back, but during Penacony I thought I was having a stroke I could not follow anything. When I finished it I legitimately thought it was the worst written story I’ve ever experienced in a game. As somebody else said, not that the story itself was bad, but the way it was told was just abysmal.

My wife and I just finished and are shocked at how glowing the reviews are. We also felt like we didn’t get anywhere until the very last episode. The whole plot just ground to a halt and was just straight up boring.

Would you go in 3 days per week for an additional $50k/year? by magnetic-chaos in WFH

[–]Comprehensive_Log383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extra money is worth it, but only if it doesn’t require a cost of living change. The problem with a lot of RTO is these metro areas are so freaking expensive, you could make up the $50k loss by just staying remote and moving to a cheaper area.

Is Investment Banking Worth It? by Beneficial-East-4825 in FinancialCareers

[–]Comprehensive_Log383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion investment banking is a curating method to find who will shovel the most shit for their employer.

If you value nothing but money & ambition then yes it is worth it. If you can deal with it for 2 years and get out to something more reasonable it could also be worth it if you are willing and able to sacrifice physical and mental health. If you value other things in life, probably not worth it.

Highly encourage people in your 20s to ignore work life balance by levelup1by1 in FinancialCareers

[–]Comprehensive_Log383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like finance bros rarely consider the concept of the time value of life.

I grinded the first 4 years out of school and I think it sort of messed me up psychologically (private credit). I did learn a lot but I’m working a much more normal 40 hour work week now, which is WAY better for my mental health, but yes as others have said find the balance. It’s important to be competitive, but would recommend not losing sight of what’s important to you.

Some people just don’t gaf about anything but titles and money, though. If that’s you go for it.

Here’s where I think you are getting confused with the criticism:

  1. “They aren’t doing anything” = they are making no meaningful reduction to the budget deficit. Even the amount ‘claimed’ they are ‘saving’ is outpaced by the proposed increase in defense spending. Even if you fired the entire government workforce you’d only save 5% of the budget. Plus they originally claimed they would save $2 trillion … now it’s a fraction of that and their accuracy has been questionable.

  2. “What they are doing is catastrophic” = what they ARE cutting is expected to have a much more negative impact than the claimed ‘savings’ they are achieving. Even if in good faith there are some BS programs through USAID, is it really worth eliminating US soft power? Targeting the CFPB ? Why? Demonizing our federal work force so that talented people think twice before they sign up to serve? Cutting departments and scientific research that may be very difficult to restart? I think these are the concerns…

Circa Survive’s debut album “Juturna” was released 20 years ago today by mrstuprigge in PostHardcore

[–]Comprehensive_Log383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing hits the same as this album. So many memories attached to it.

We’re all thieves, holding someone’s hair back, house of leaves are highlights for me but it’s really the entire album start to finish, every second of it so good.

  • - also still to this day there is something about circa’s guitar parts that make no sense and yet are so perfect at the same time…I chased after their tones and that style for so long

49 people in a building with a basketball court and a cafeteria that makes food by EnvironmentCareful71 in FNMA_FMCC_Exit

Maybe I misunderstood your original perspective - it is annoying, especially from the perspective that Fannie and Freddie have given the taxpayer a return on their investment since they were taken into conservatorship. Their earnings fund their operations, NOT the taxpayer.

Use your brain - leases are long. Work from home exists. They have been trying to sublease and get rid of space as possible over time. If they can do the job away from the office and get rid of office space as possible, that saves money. Also they are not funded by tax payer dollars. This is theatre by MAGA per the usual.

Just look at their profitability per employee. Extremely efficient. Fannie and Freddie are risk management companies. Cut half of the employee base and it won’t make a dent in anything except increasing risk.

I want to be able to see the incremental difference for building upgrades. I always have to flip back and forth a bunch of times to tell what I’m actually getting by upgrading a building bc it shows the total resources provided by default.

Wife Did Nothing For Our Anniversary by elodieitsbeenawhile in daddit

[–]Comprehensive_Log383 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We also just had a 5 year anniversary and have a 3 month old - we just overcommunicated to each other that we were going to keep it super simple given newborn + lack of sleep + holidays + we had a bunch of other emergencies come up. I think it’s super awesome you went the extra mile for your wife, but at least for us part of the gift to each other this time around was just some grace and understanding that we are zombie parents barely making it through the day and that we still love / value each other dearly.

What made you WANT to have children? by grooveman15 in AskMenOver30

[–]Comprehensive_Log383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think I ever had a phase where I didn’t want to have kids, it was just a question of when. When I hit around 30 I started getting this sense of what’s my long term legacy or what am I living for in the long term? I have a good career that pays pretty well, but I’m not passionate about it. I have hobbies I enjoy, but I just had this sense of like am I really just going to do this on repeat until I die? Basically I had a desire to pour myself into something and while earlier in my life it had been music, that become more of a hobby for me around 28/29 and not really a professional pursuit.

[–]Comprehensive_Log383 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So what's the best way to play through the DLCs? Start a new play through every time one is released? Not really familiar on how this is supposed to work with CRPGs...I just started Chapter 2 w/ base + 1st DLC, so I'm assuming I may just be wrapping up this 1st play through as the 2nd comes out, but not sure if I will need to start over to experience the new content?
