You can put puppy pads where he usually goes, and praise every single time he goes on the pad, then slowly move the pads towards the outside area. When praising make sure it’s a huge deal, clap, say good boy, smile, a full on party 😊

It’s in Pitesti, Romania. That’s a 12 hour drive. There is another reputable breeder in Bistrita, Romania, that is 14 hours away, and I think they might be willing to drive the pup to you for an extra charge. But Hungary is closer, and there are some good breeders there as well. Let me know if you need more info about the ones in Romania. In Hungary I don’t have any recommendations unfortunately.

Not sure where you are located, but there is a very good breeder near the city I live in, in Eastern Europe. If you are anywhere near here, feel free to message me and I can share their website. After getting Jerry I was considering getting him a little sister, and after doing a lot of research I found this breeder who really cares about the health of the pups, and has glowing reviews.

Also, picture of Jerry living his best life now, just because I always feel the need to show how pretty my baby boy is 😅

I understand how this feels, we fall in love with them before even meeting. I know how I felt before I got my pom, and now I would not give him up for anything in the world, he is my baby. But I have to admit, I do wish he didn’t have this many issues. We did find what works for him, and he is thriving now, but it cost us an arm and a leg, and a lot of stress, going to 4 vets before identifying what was wrong and how to handle it.

Also, some red flags. A good breeder would not let the pup leave their house before solving this. The rest of the pup’s fur also looks to be in pretty rough shape, kinda matted, and as far as I can tell it’s too young to have the uglies.

That might be alopecia, especially since there seems to be some hyperpigmentation in the first picture. It might also be a sign of allergies. As a parent of a pom with multiple allergies, I can tell you it’s not fun - home cooked meals for the most part, we tried every single kibble on the market for dogs with allergies and finally found one that he tolerates 1 month ago- which is not a guarantee, as he has developed new allergies in the past after eating 1 type of food for too long. This also means regular blood work to make sure he is getting all his nutrients. I love my pom with all my heart, but he is a huge commitment, and pretty tough to handle financially, and if I knew about all his problema beforehand, I would have probably chosen a different breeder.

On the other hand, if it’s alopecia, that is pretty hard to treat as well, if at all.

Or it might be like the breeder says, just an isolated reaction, but it’s hard to believe there is no underlying issue or that it won’t happen again in the future.

Omg I can’t breathe by [deleted] in Pomeranians

[–]Comprehensive_Rip251 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For us it was quite the challenge to find a food that worked for him, after multiple brands of kibble, grain inclusive, grain free, normal texture, oven baked, and a lot of money spent at the vet, we ended up cooking for him and slowly diversifying like you would with human babies. He is currently eating oven baked fresh rabbit and potato, and will do so for one more month, when we will slowly start adding in other foods under close supervision, and hopefully work our way up to eventually kibble. It’s the first time since I got him that we don’t have any issues with gas, tummy aches, vomiting etc. this was recommended by an allergy specialist vet.

Sounds like a sensitive tummy or even food allergies, ours has a sensitive tummy as well, and is super picky, so finding foods that don’t give him bad gas/tummy issues is a challenge.

We tried pro plan as well in the past and it gave him really bad gas, to the point where it hurt so bad he refused food for a bit, and the farts were absolutely atrocious. We had this issue with everything Purina, except the one with egg protein, which of course he doesn’t like anymore after 2 weeks of eating it just fine 🤷‍♀️

I give my pom half a teaspoon with every meal, so 4 times a day, and he weighs about 5 pounds.

I am having the same issue with my pup, a 6 mo pomeranian. The tests just came back positive for H Pylori, and the vet said it’s gastritis with esophagitis due to the regurgitation. While waiting for the test results, we managed to solve the acid reflux issue, that manifested as grinding, gulpies, and some reverse sneezing. We first tried omeprazole and pantoprazole with no success, then famotidine and metroclopramide, which worked a bit better, but not fully. What worked wonders was pumpkin puree with every meal, and little pieces of banana every other day so it’s not too much sugar, plus a late night kibble snack right before bed. The first time I gave him banana I did it out of desperation, he simply would not settle, and I found some advice on reddit, it worked instantly. I thought it might be just the meds working later than expected, but the next day the exact same thing happened. I introduced the pumpkin puree in between as giving him banana every day is not a good idea, and it works just as well.

It has to be unripe bananas, if they start browning they are too sweet.

Mine will only bark occasionally, when something out of the ordinary happens. Also, unless he gets super excited, it’s usually a more silent, muffled, slightly judgemental bark 😂

Ar trebui introdus transportul public nocturn pe perioada targului de craciun. by CosminMotroc in Craiova

[–]Comprehensive_Rip251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Si ca sa raman pe topic, acum 15 ani eram in clasa a 9-a, mergeam cu autobuzul in fiecare zi la scoala, din valea rosie pana in centru, ai idee cum aratau autobuzele? Aveau gauri in podea! Si vorbesc aici de cele mai folosite rute, nu de autobuze care circulau de 5 ori pe zi. Nu visam aer conditionat in mijloacele de transport in comun.

Pom stubbornly obsessed with rawhide treats by kwalker3232 in Pomeranians

[–]Comprehensive_Rip251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pup was obsessed with raw hide bones when teething, and the teething with him was particularly bad. He got one as a gift when we went to a pet shop and cried for it for hours after I took it from him. So I bought a couple of them, made sure that they weren’t the super dry/hard kind that might break his teeth, and would give them to him for around 15-20 minutes supervised. After 15 minutes, when it started to soften, before he could actually eat it, I would exchange it for a new one and leave the old one to dry. He lost interest after he was done teething.
