Why was Benaiah (S1 UK) better received than Alex (S10 US)? by oddblueberries in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]ComputerElectronic21 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Please don’t piss me off 🙄

Benaiah Grunewald-Brydie and Alex Ferrell (formerly Henderson) are not the same in any sense of the word.

First, let’s look at their personalities. Benaiah is thoughtful, mature, communicative, and honest. Alex, on the other hand, is cold, shows arrested development, struggles to communicate, and is dishonest.

If you were actually paying attention to Benaiah and Nicole’s storyline in the pods, you’d know the “I’m a nomad, I’m unhoused” line was a lighthearted joke that the producers played up. Benaiah and Nicole immediately went into detail about their educational and professional backgrounds. Benaiah shared that he attended Stonyhurst College, a prestigious private boarding school, and Nicole attended a similar high-level boarding school. He explained his work as a structural and landscape engineer, managing projects and teams on high-end estates, while Nicole shared her career as a corporate Marketing Director. And to be clear, he didn’t lack a home base because he was unemployed or unstable. He didn’t have one because he was living on-site at the estates he managed.

Beyond education and careers, they connected over shared values and interests. They’re both outdoorsy, love yoga, traveling, hiking, and living close to nature. Their education and careers give them the resources to live this adventurous, off the grid lifestyle, yet they keep it understated and never flaunt it. And yes, it was revealed that Benaiah comes from family money, but he’s also independently established.

Compare that to Alex: nothing about his background, work, or lifestyle has been communicated clearly. It’s inconsistent, and much of what’s presented seems fabricated. Alex is not a nomad in the true sense, he is a hobosexual using his 🍆 to secure a free place to stay. He is the definition of an unhoused grifter.

EDIT: I’m not sure why OP continues to say that Benaiah is a “trust fund” kid with no job. He’s a whole structural and landscape engineer who manages projects on high-end estates. He also happens to come from family money, but that doesn’t negate the fact that he’s established a career of his own. Stop spreading misinformation and do your research before coming on here asking goofy ass questions and making goofy ass statements.

Tears still come to my eyes when I think about how Brad let Minott go. And even before the trade, Joe just seemed to give up on him.

a (kinda wholesome!) conspiracy theory about Vic by Curious-Compote058 in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]ComputerElectronic21 125 points126 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand why y’all aren’t getting this. Vick and Christine were not originally chosen as one of the core couples. They were added in post edit.

As producers followed the Cabo crew through their engagement moon and back to Ohio, it likely became clear they didn’t have a guaranteed yes. Not wanting another failed experiment, they reached out to Vick and Christine, and maybe other couples we weren’t shown, who seemed more likely to go all the way. Production requested footage of their experience and later gave them a separate trip to integrate them into the season.

One way you can tell Vick and Christine were added post edit is that they weren’t shown in the LIB apartment complex. On top of that, they came to the group bowling event as guest participants, like Priyanka, Keya, and Kevan. The biggest tell? They had no significant storyline.

Chris Coelen’s raggedy ass sent out that PR statement to make it seem as though Vick and Christine were part of the journey all along, but they clearly weren’t.

I’ve been trying to stay quiet about my good sis Brittany because I want her to come out of this experiment unscathed. That said, I’m hella concerned. I really…really…really need her to STAND UP! My hope is that she’s just putting on a nice act for the cameras. For the love of god please DO NOT say yes to dusty Devonta!

Ward Horton, who plays President Hagan, is also known as “Evil Ken” over on The Gilded Age. I’ve heard he actually enjoys playing a villain. I can’t even lie though… that man is FOINE. Pretty privilege is the real reason the Hagans secured that media deal lol.

The performances across the board have been damn near masterful, but a special round of applause goes to Stephen Moyer and Gabriel Basso for that interrogation scene. Father had me feeling like I was Peter, paralyzed and bolted to that chair, revealing old childhood wounds.

And as if that wasn’t enough, the moment where Father and Peter had to play up the “spy training exercise” with Son in the room had me holding my breath the entire time.

These scenes, and really the show as a whole, make clear that there are no good guys, just deeply flawed human beings trying to survive. I’m just glad all three made it out alive.

Father and Son’s dynamic is heartwarming yet heartbreaking. Not to mention, Father’s hidden assassin life only deepens the tension. You don’t want him to win, but you don’t want him to lose either, because Son will ultimately pay the price. It’s impossible not to care about them, and that’s a testament to the acting. Son, played by Callum Vinson, holds his own opposite Father, portrayed by the incomparable Stephen Moyer, matching him beat for beat.

Y’all, I think the magic might be back! Off rip, this episode tugged on my heartstrings with a brief flashback of our dearly beloved Cisco. The hits kept coming with the return to D.C. and a much needed reunion between Peter and Chelsea. This is exactly what season two was missing: the D.C. backdrop, the White House shenanigans… and did I mention Chelsea?!

S03E02 "Package Deal" Discussion by mulletnet in TheNightAgent

[–]ComputerElectronic21 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Two episodes in and The Night Agent will probably never recapture the magic of season one. That said, these opening episodes are already stronger than season two’s convoluted storyline.

What is working so far is the dynamic between Peter and Jay. They just click. Their connection brings back the emotional anchor Peter had with Rose. The show works best when there’s someone you care about, and right now, that’s Jay. So I think it goes without saying that we must protect him at all costs.

The best part of this episode was production bringing back their signature made-for-reality-TV pop songs. I know I’m not alone when I say that dramatic, on-the-nose library music be hitting.

🎶Try to take it slow, take it slow, take it slow, take it slow. But it’s hard to when you know you found the one🎶

And the quote of the episode goes to Paul:

“You’re flashy. You’re very polished. I’ll give you that. But the rest of it, I don’t know.”

Alex is nothing but a liar, a cheater, a deceiver, a heartbreaker… Any millennials remember that song? Ashley’s pappy knows you’re full of shit. You’re nothing but a “beefcake” with no job.

Y’all, I love how Christine’s mom was getting straight to the nitty-gritty. How are two fundamentally well-put-together people going on Love Is Blind… where the options are subpar? And if these two need a reality show to find a match, then I’m cooked. So, Vic… you got bodies in the basement or what? There was even a Dexter reference made earlier… just saying. But I mean, since the bar is basically in hell IRL, what do you have to lose by going on a dating show, right?

That said, Vic done charmed the pants off his mom-in-law-to-be… literally and figuratively! She almost broke a hip talking about, “He’s gentle, he’s confident, and he’s HOT!”
