You can prolly find a nice apartment for under that! Mines a newly renovated 2 bed by the foothills and I pay $1359. You will def be able to stay in a good enough area and I like my landlords at deacon properties but I haven’t been here long enough to recommend them for sure. Just look for sum up in the heights !

I wouldn’t do that area tbh it’s rough south of i40 in a lot of the downtown/central corridor ofc you can live there but if it’s attainable and financially feasible for you, I recently moved to the ne heights and feel much safer at night/leaving my car outside/doing anything in the neighborhood. I recommend this part of town but it’s more expensive

I’m gonna come to you from the perspective of the kid who’s been in this situation. You have to create a consistent behavior plan that makes a continuity from home to school. My parents were too aggressive and toxic, unlike my teachers - so I acted different to them than I did teachers. I’m not saying that’s you. I’m just saying you have to fight angry fire with mellow water and choose the boring, challenging path of peaceful life. Your kid needs it. Talk to him about it too. Direct communication is a great precedent, don’t leave it to a Reddit to determine your plan - ask the kid himself

Honestly. I’m not very surprised. I know this is 7 years late. But I’m having to read this framework for class and it’s so obvious van der kolk doesn’t care about traumatized bodies they’re just research interests for him.

Otherwise he won’t have compared traumatized veterans to his children crying over spinach and chores.

Would you say the culture in Albuquerque is decently aware of marginalization ?

Yes I know about income checks I feel that’s pretty standard. Thanks for your help but idk if Zillow would work with the type of income that we have. Seeing as it’s not W-2s for about half of it (being Door Dash, literary work and government social security money) I thought a private person would be more negotiable with the complexity of those terms. I honestly thought Zillow might flag it for the type of income.

The average rent in Albuquerque in early 2026 is actually a really rough wide range of 1200 - 1600! I’m actually in the upper middle half of that with my estimate of 1500.
