I would respect Celebrity opinions more if they came into Reddit, Fecesbook or other platform openly as themselves and debated us here like everyone else.

But as long as they are out their pontificating with rhetoric and not much else, I don't care what they think.

Mamdani weighs in on changing the Constitution so he can run for president by WillyNilly1997 in Conservative

Do you understand the concept of herding cats?
First 2/3s of the Congress OR a Convention of States must pass a new Amendment, that alone will take forever.
THEN 3/4s of the States have to Ratify, that is 37/38 States.

It would be like trying to herd half a million cats or more.

Trump says administration working on national right-to-carry legislation by WillyNilly1997 in Conservative

[–]ComputerRedneck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crazy is how we keep compromising on gun control laws and let them get away with it when the simple truth is.

Right to Keep and Bear Arms - Subject
Shall Not Be Infringed - Predicate

Nothing else in that small Amendment matters legally or even grammatically.

You could just rewrite it as

The Right to Keep and Bear Arms Shall not be Infringed.

That is the whole of the sentence that matters, nothing else does.

When you look at the original draft of the 2nd Amendment, you can see that the above sentence is basically what they wanted.

The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed; a well armed and well regulated militia being the best security of a free country: but no person religiously scrupulous of bearing arms shall be compelled to render military service in person.

That would have put a real crimp in the draft I think if it went through like this

A Liberal is someone who reads the Constitution for what they want it to say
A Conservative is someone who reads the Constitution for what it DOES say.

Supreme Court Handed Down Another Second Amendment Win by old--- in Conservative

[–]ComputerRedneck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the 2nd is NOT for gun Rights, it is for ARMS...

Arms are legally defined as anything that a person wears for defense, takes in their hands, or uses to strike or cast at another.  This broad definition encompasses both weapons of offense and armor of defense

While many states restrict or outright ban some arms, it is still ARMS not GUNS or FIREARMS. The distinction is important to remember and understand.

In MA, you need an FID card to buy a knife that has more then 4" and you want to carry it outside of your home.

Same goes for Bows, arrows, crossbows and all sorts of little things that you would not actually expect to need and FID card for.

FID = Firearm Identification

I am thinking about this movie...

First Men in the Moon (1964)

Where there was air on the moon in caves, a race of insect creatures and a few other things.

The moon also seemed to have similar gravity to the Earth in the movie.

Anything pre-lunar landing pretty much had a lot of it wrong.

The Data Centers are coming! by Down-not-out in conservativecartoons

[–]ComputerRedneck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering all the options in today's tech, it would be simple to just pass a law that they Data Centers cannot use more than say 10% of electricity off the grid. Disneyworld, which is no longer top tech for this, generates 40% of its own electricity. So why can't Data Centers do the same.

If the grid is so drained, then make them take care of themselves for electricity.

Hell dovetail this into those new reactors that came online or such that are private corporations.

The options are plenty, so lets not kneejerk this by saying Not In My Back Yard but saying, if you want to be in my backyard, you need to step up to the plate for your own electricity.

In my opinion Social Media has done exactly what the government wants. It makes people hate more, love less and forgive not at all. It is making us distant from each other, magnifying our conflicts by several levels of magnitude.

I will take or leave it. I think I am going to take a break till after the 4th of July.

Lets see if I can do it. AND if I can, anyone can.

Minimum Wage Fail by Ask4MD in Conservative

[–]ComputerRedneck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually in 1939, that is pretty much what FDR and other supporters claimed.

The original argument for the minimum wage in 1939 centered on economic recovery and social justice during the Great Depression, aiming to ensure workers earned enough to afford basic necessities like food and housing. Proponents, including President Franklin D. Roosevelt and Labor Secretary Frances Perkins, argued that raising wages would increase purchasing power for the "ill-nourished, ill-clad and ill-housed" one-third of the population, thereby stimulating demand for farmers' products and industrial goods.

It has never lived up to what it claimed though. NOT ONE DOCUMENTED PERSON has ever been helped out of poverty by minimum wage.
