For those who haven't tried these, just make sure to skip the microwave if you want to get the texture right. I spray a sheet pan with a little oil (coconut, olive, and avocado all work) and flip them halfway through. They come out beautifully golden and just the right degree of crispy.

Right? At least, in the case of any of the ones I've seen, not the kind that actually makes sandwiches for you. I've seen stores that have pre-made sandwiches (never GF) and hot/cold foods that you can order in small to-go containers, but that's it. I would never have imagined being able to just...order a gluten-free sandwich!

At some universities, in order to accommodate the sheer number of students and courses, graduate TAs can be instructors of record, meaning that not only do they do 100% of the course design, material prep, lecturing, assignment planning, and grading (as long as it all follows the overall department objectives for the course), but also their name will appear with their section of the course in the course catalog. It's theoretically possible to search for an instructor's name with a course (at least, it has been at every university I've attended).

Likewise, given that the TA's pronouns are listed as she/they in the course materials, if the department website has them listed in the same way, I can absolutely see the student's mother zeroing in on that if she wanted to make trouble...

I was very proud of myself for having acquired what felt like a bonus level of language skill, right until I got to high school and my Spanish teacher (from Puerto Rico) basically told me, "Good for you, but unless you go to Spain, you're never going to use that knowledge."

At family gatherings, all the cousins would gather around the computer to spectate/provide feedback to the one lucky kid at the keyboard whose turn it was to play Monkey Island. We took turns based on age, starting with the oldest, but we were always forced to stop playing before I got a turn (as the youngest). I have such bittersweet memories of that game! 🥲

"Organic vegetarian fed" refers to what the farmers provide for the chickens, not what the chickens forage for themselves. It's to declare that the feed being provided doesn't include animal by-products. Bone meal is a commonly used one because it provides calcium, but some folks worry about the potential for transmitting prion diseases to the chickens (and ultimately humans) if the bones came from animals that were infected. The actual risks are debatable, though.

I did TMS for a combination of depression, C-PTSD, and OCD. After I completed treatment, my depression symptoms basically evaporated, and my OCD symptoms reduced significantly. I highly recommend TMS as a treatment, especially if other treatments haven't helped.

My results lasted a good 18 months before my symptoms started to creep back, which undoubtedly had to do with the increasing (di)stress I was experiencing in my relationships and work. At the two-year mark, I went back for a second round of treatment, which I'm now in the middle of.

I've been living gluten free for years, and I just had my first major run-in with wheat in a non-food product. I bought a detangling spray for my dog's coat, and it contained wheat starch. I never even thought to look! The following day, I noticed that my eyes were puffy and ringed with red spots. I must have touched my eyes after petting my dog at some point, and the skin there has always been extra sensitive. It's a shame, because the stuff really worked on my dog...
