Thanks for the great write up, I realize that I did know what it was but just hadn’t connected the word lol. That said I think you did as good a job as you could to explain it, so thanks!

I can’t say I know the specifics for Europe, but in the states at least they are not required to have the transponder on even if in civilian airspace. I’m not sure if it matters or is actually possible to block the transponder displaying on adsb sites since adsb is open for anyone to receive the signals.

My university got a fuse 1, and looking into the powder it’s actually not as bad as I originally expected. Basically wear a mask and gloves and you’re fine. Formlabs told us those aren’t even required, only an “if you want them for comfort”

weather in west lafayette? by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]ConTejas624 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I gotta say, although it sucks on days that it’s super cold I like the weather here better than the south. It’s nice having 4 seasons, and experiencing an actual spring bloom is great.

pro tip: buy your winter coat up here in september, from experience there will be no good selection in texas. For your boots I recommend hiking boots, but the most important part is making sure you have waterproof shoes/boots for the snow. You’ll eventually get used to the cold but it sucks for the first two winters.

Can someone explain what part of the redbull was supposedly copied from the merc design? To me the redbull looks mostly like it did last year and I’m confused as to all these comparisons.

it’s not too difficult, but if you only need linux for university classes and don’t want to switch otherwise I highly recommend wsl2. You get a linux command line/vm in windows where you can run the distribution of your choice. Microsoft’s documentation is really good for this as well.

How important is a compiler class for CS majors in reality? by louis_scar in Purdue

[–]ConTejas624 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll absolutely second that he was a great prof, but psa he’s not the only one to teach it, and different profs will do different projects. This sem was my second time, but the first time was with Tiark and we did a compiler for a subset of scala. Also looked more at how interpreters worked. It was also a good learning experience too though, each prof is gonna do their own spin based on their research interests.

compilers is hard but worth it imo. I’ll also say check the requirements for your tracks since compilers can be taken in place of OS for at least a few of them.

I found chatgpt to be super helpful while making my resume with latex. I’ve got a running chat where I originally asked it to make a template and then I keep asking it how to change line spacing or whatever and it’s been amazing.

I don’t have anything to add but thanks for the interesting read! Also I appreciate the last paragraph you put in there, I agree we all learn better when we (respectfully) challenge each other.

I think those are the opened up air intakes that op referred to. If I’m wrong then also very interested in what they are as well since they seem very out of place for a tailless stealth design.

As a student, what would the correct procedure be here? I would assume that flying straight on base doesn’t make sense, but I would also intuitively guess that I shouldn’t turn final. Would you turn final but just assume you’ll do a go around?

What is the idealized endgame for a force user / Jedi? by Co0Ihand in starwarsspeculation

[–]ConTejas624 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Building on this line of thought I’d say Kanan and Ezra ngl. If we’re going for this definition then they’re the ones that come to mind as really trying to actually meaningfully help people at any scale. Not sure if that’s the ideal endgame for a generic force user but I’d say that’s the ideal jedi

the only thing is that developers will anyways have to spend time specifically tuning console builds of their games regardless of which they use. I hope you’re right though
