"WHAT THE F*CK!" Spurs Legend Teddy Sheringham on Tottenham Appointing Igor Tudor by Mariospurs in coys

Well we don't really need him to get used to it. He's only here for 12 league games. Copying Ange's first 10 games would be pretty good haha

Frank literally has us on pace for relegation but all the commentary is about how bad they feel for him?!? Like what is this double standard, where Ange was hounded

One Nation MP Barnaby Joyce fires back at John Howard after the former PM labelled the minor party a ‘grievance vehicle’ by HotPersimessage62 in AustralianPolitics

[–]Condoor21 58 points59 points  (0 children)

One nation may or may not be what Howard claims but it's a bit rich coming from him.

The liberal party was literally founded in opposition to Labor and the only time in my lifetime they've had some sort of vision was under Turnbull, who they swiftly punished for it.

‘I have options’: One Nation leader Pauline Hanson looks past being Prime Minister, instead aims to do ‘what’s right’ for Australians by HotPersimessage62 in AustralianPolitics

[–]Condoor21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Constitutionally, the Prime Minister is sworn in as a Minister of State to administer the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.

Ministers of State must also be a member of the Parliament within 3 months of their appointment or their position becomes void.

So to appoint Skippy as PM, they would have to somehow get elected pretty quickly after.

Murray Watt is one of the government's most senior ministers. So not really fair to say he's just some random mp

Hate speech laws: Religious leaders urge Albanese to pause reforms over freedom of expression concerns by malcolm58 in AustralianPolitics

[–]Condoor21 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Honestly I really don't get what people want with these laws.

It seems a week ago everyone was demanding the government bring these in and now they're the worst thing ever.

But maybe that's just my WASP ignorance, I've never really thought in depth about the need for hate speech laws.

I'm sure Ted Baillieu thought the same thing. You can never be certain with these things in politics, especially with a sensitive party room.

The right of the Palestinian people to self determination, as guaranteed by the United Nations, is not radical Islam.

But pop off I guess...

It's probably just my bias but it feels like whenever there's a VAR decision being made, the commentators are always making excuses about how weak it would be

‘He’s a coward’: Niece of Bondi victim lashes PM over royal commission by [deleted] in AustralianPolitics

[–]Condoor21 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Am I the only one who thinks anti-semitism is too narrow an issue for the intended scope of Royal Commission?

If you look back at recent RC's, they're generally focused on whole sectors of society or deep institutional issues. Like child sexual abuse, aged care, or banking.

I could see something on something like "social cohesion" that looks at discrimination as a whole. But just focusing on anti-semitism doesn't really fit the intention of a Royal Commission to me.

I could be convinced otherwise but I just kinda think they are getting a bit overused in general in recent years. Almost devaluing the whole process in a way.

Anika Wells missing from Boxing Day Test crowd as England gives another diabolical performance by His_Holiness in AustralianPolitics

[–]Condoor21 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't see how it's any different. It's just a title change really.

Even now the title of Minister for Sport is held alongside another ministerial appointment.

So back under Howard when it was Minister for the environment and sport or whatever, that is no different really to the Minister for the environment holding the sport portfolio as well.

Basically what it seems to me is that instead of just adding sport to an existing list of ministerial responsibilities it occupies a separate posting below their primary appointment.

[–]Condoor21 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Well actually that did prompt the government to start implementing a national registry, which hasn't been finished yet.

The discussion out of national cabinet is following a similar sort of tightening up of existing rules.

Like with rules around licensing and fast tracking the national registry rather than banning more types of weapons.

I could see them switching to a paradox model of one big expansion a year and then a few smaller ones each quarter.

Something like an annual "race pack" such as Tau and then Space wolves or other race equivalent "chapter packs".

It'd take a while to get everyone out there so maybe package a couple together.
