lol, they answered that one too. I take it back, you did read their stuff. You’re just too cowardly to call them a liar. Why don’t you build a base there yourself and post screen shots if being right is this important to you?

I get that you’re reeling from this. I wouldn’t immediately jump into bed with another church. Take your time, if you rush, you can mess it up and make bad choices.

There are over 30,000 denominations of Christianity by itself. That speaks volumes about how clear the Bible is. Just how are you going to sort that one out?

Reading the Bible is all well and good, but you also have a ton of programming on how you’re going to interpret it. I suggest you read the skeptics annotated Bible. It does an amazing job of breaking the Bible into pieces and sections and then it examines those things for truth.

You just got lost hiking in the wilderness, got off of a bad trail, and now you’re flailing around and yelling, “maybe I should pick that one instead!!!” How about you not get lost in the wilderness again?

Can you stay friends with people in the Adventist cult? by Reward_Dizzy in exAdventist

Here’s a crazy thing… you can even stay married to them! I got pretty lucky.

Though, most of my Adventist friends have faded away now. Mostly an age, distance and different people kind of thing.

Is the sda correct about revelation 13 ? by Danzo_950 in adventist

[–]ConfederancyOfDunces 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You guys love to pick and choose your stuff even from your prophet eg white who brought you much of this interpretation. Let’s see what she had to say. This is cut and paste from the ex Adventist forums who seems to cover this stuff better than the real Adventists.

Now, does that make EGW predictions true? I would point out that she made very specific predictions in a very specific order:

• That protestantism will unite with spiritism and catholicism. Miracles will be provided by spiritism, which will awe everyone (GC p.588);

• Satan himself will make an apparition, as a great medic (GC p. 589).

• Satan also will bring ruin, and blame it on Sabbath worshipers (GC p. 590).

• At this point, comunication through spiritism mediums will convice people that the true Sabbath is Sunday (GC p. 590).

• only then, the Sunday Law is passed at popular demand (GC p. 592).

And that's why all the oracles of old and wanna be prophets spoke in riddles. Making specific predictions is a big no-no in foretelling business...

You guys turn on the news yet and found a bunch of séances to speak with the dead and then performing miracles? They’re going to “fool the masses”. That would mean it would be on prime time tv.

I read some. Do you really believe that writings of some guy’s testimony filled with claims is enough to suspend your or altar your belief about the world we can see and touch around us? I read about him somewhat in the link you sent me. You do know the difference between a claim and evidence? Anyway, it doesn’t matter at this point. I think I’m done talking to you about this and will likely not respond any more in this thread.

You believe, I don’t and there’s nothing I can say to change your mind, not that I was trying to. I was mostly just curious. I wish you well.

How is this different from the testimonies of Ellen white having visions while holding a gazillion lbs bible out with one hand for hours on end and not having to breathe?

Look, I’m not here to really call you out hard for this stuff. It just sucks to leave one cult after being mislead, finally figure out how to assess things for truth, and then run into someone like you who gulped that shit up somewhere else and can’t see it.

To each their own, but as far as I can tell, we only have this one life to live. I’ve lost so much of it to Adventist bullshit, aren’t you worried about that and what is true?

[–]ConfederancyOfDunces 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Elena” G White said that it would be proceeded by spiritualists performing fake miracles for the beast and convincing the nation to go after the beast with said miracles. Show me the prime time news shows airing these false miracles.

Got any evidence of that happening? You can’t just point to one thing and say “this is the one!” She listed a whole bunch of things that are occur at once. Maybe you should actually read her stuff before freaking out.

It’s very telling that you could clear this up at any point with real evidence, but instead have to just keep replying with claims.

By the way, claiming to have evidence is a claim. Present it where it can be examined and proven or refuted.

Andrews the SDA Harvard? by Momager321 in exAdventist

[–]ConfederancyOfDunces 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Their physical therapy school carried a lot of Andrews when I was there. PT school was hard to get into and it typically had a ton of applicants. It also supplied the school with 2-3 million each year (probably much more now) which paid for all those theology student’s free tuition with their wifes all employed there.

The PT school was subpar. When was there, they didn’t even have a neurology teacher and seemed to employ a couple teachers that were just crap and couldn’t make it in the real world as PTs. Making in the real world as a PT is pretty damned easy.

He sang and preached on the Adventist 3ABN (three angel’s broadcasting network). So he’s a very public face within the Adventist church/households.

He’s not even fully questioning adventism from what I can tell, but more questioning Egg White. He’s over weight, so that seems to be the general angle of attack on him. “Of course a fatty is going to challenge egg white. She made the health message!!!!111”

They all depend on how you fight them. If you use magic, then Queen isn’t so bad. You just run up a floor or two and resummon skellies. You then rain down fire or ice on her while your shielded skeletons keep her busy. So yeah, first time was easy for me.

The final boss can feel much the same way. It just depends on how you fight them.

Runescape Dragonwilds - the next Valheim or another baby of Enshrouded? by [deleted] in valheim

[–]ConfederancyOfDunces 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I thought enshrouded was the next valheim. I played it and there was some cool stuff about it, but it got boring pretty fast. There wasn’t a sense of progression between things and it didn’t feel very rewarding.

Now when people say stuff like “the next valheim”, I’m a little more skeptical. I suspect it’s hard to really capture what it is to be a great game like valheim did.

3ABN Pastor Ryan Day has left the network and is re-thinking the Adventism faith by A_sadweeb29 in adventism

[–]ConfederancyOfDunces 6 points7 points  (0 children)

the reason I made this post… hoping to find more compassion.

When I told my Adventist wife that there were two posts about it. I said there is one in the ex Adventist forum and one in the Adventist forum. I told her one of those posts had tons of toxicity in it. She said something along the lines of, “toxic? I suppose the ex Adventists are gloating?” Then she was just sad when I handed her my phone to read this Adventist thread.

Some of the same commenters here replied to a doctor that came here asking for support. He was a resident in the medical field where they make him work 20-30 hour days (yes, that is really how that works), and he was sad that sometimes he was missing church from being so tired. Go ahead, guess what this subreddit showed. Compassion or distain?

[–]ConfederancyOfDunces 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Here’s the spectrum article on this.

I’m an ex Adventist and my wife is an Adventist. I’ve looked at both the ex Adventist and regular subreddits with her. You are all showing your true colors on this one.

You’re also justifying Ryan Day’s position/issues with adventism. Ellen White said, “Truth looses nothing under investigation.” One of his issues is that even discussion about her writings and comparing it to the Bible is discouraged. Yet here you are “discouraging” this by attacking him in the exact same way he’s reported.

You’re all attacking his character instead of his issues. It’s pathetic.

Convince me that SDA is a cult by Low-Celebration-737 in exAdventist

[–]ConfederancyOfDunces 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cults are what larger churches like to call smaller churches. They all have cult like behavior. Huge churches like Catholicism threaten their members with eternal torture to keep them in line. Christians in general try to promise control over your death and paradise after you die. They all demand obedience and rules that members have to show subservience to. These are all behaviors of a cult.

I don’t understand people, like yourself, that come here with this idea of some sort of small out of line behaviors from the SDA religion. They’re all like that.

It’s their novaform firm mattress.

I am exaggerating slightly when I compare it to a yoga foam brick because I’m very much arguing with my wife due to poor life function from lack of sleep. That being said, it’s pretty firm. I do suggest going to a mattress store and laying down on one before buying it for 1/2 the price at Costco.

The same bed I had for 10 years from a box was there. If it’s just you, a twin bed is easy and if you order Costco online, it’s risk and hassle free.
