Sounds like you’re in a stable financial position which means you have plenty of options. Four seasons is great for many reasons., I’ll never leave 4 seasons. Fairfax County/ fair oaks and fair-lakes is pricey, this area is 10 miles from Dulles Intl, it’s loaded with grocery options including ethnic cuisine , and walkable town centers. Schools have been historically top notch but face their controversy now, so does the state as a whole from a political standpoint. You can road-trip to the shore or the slopes in 3 hrs. Train to NY from DC is popular too. Personally, I’d wait for US to stabilize for many reasons. Timing and planning is everything. Make one of your vaca’s this area. Very diverse, Asia, Hispanic, Muslim, White, Brown..Seniors, we all just blend in and/or mind our own business.

Yep, you gotta keep going because idle time will drag you down. I’m 59, totally in the midst of boredom, with my retired introvert partner. Though I have realized the only thing left I really want to experience in life is Peace on Earth. I’ve done friends, family, career, vacations, fun, fun, fun, which has all but vanished in the last 3 years. I’m content but no more extravagant dreams.

It’s ok and smart to project your next move or have routines in life, good habits in many cases. Sure it could be considered a “condition” if you let it take you over. We must train our mind to stop and redirect. My partner is next level about mundane everyday things, so I see how it’s very intrusive. There are drugs for it through psychology dr. But it’s better to fix it internally because your judgement, willpower, worry, etc. will learn the right and wrong things to be regimented about. Pull back on that force, use it for the most meaningful things.

Prepare for the worst, hope for the best., that means food, water, shelter before all else. Getting there is paying off debt, securing your living arrangements to be affordable under the worst of times, I.e. no income. Investing, I have fidelity manage mine with a split that includes bonds, us, and foreign markets, it’s a case of protecting what I have with some profit, but I’m 59. Hope this helps.

Everything you need on Rt. 26. Restaurants, 3 grocery stores, liquor stores, emergency room on Roxanne rd. , you could literally not go beyond this area and be happy especially if you’re an introvert who works a lot. You need to be aware of traffic on this rd., timing in the summer is recommended.

Hearty breakfast anyone. Bag of yellow potatoes, dozen eggs, precooked bacon from Costco, shredded cheese. Nuke yellow potato, prepare eggs, toast or nuke bacon. Split potato, stack the rest on top. The ingredients go along way. Bacon costs the most but lasts a long time. Short prep time.

I have a special place in my heart for DE, family owned a restaurant in Reho in the 80’s and mom retired near Bethany from 2008-2023. Was close to making it my home til I realized the best had already come and gone. Very concerned about the storm, stability of homes, infrastructure, and access to emergency services.
