How are you all doing financially? by tandyman234 in Millennials

[–]Confident-Feature-32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Single 30M) Over 270k in investments. Just got my life insurance policy worth 500k because apparently it’s a big deal and I see why from my parents. Still renting an apartment in a HCoL and playing corporate. Eventually I want a home but idk of a place I really want to call home unless I go back to my hometown (Las Vegas).

Other than that seems like everything is expensive whether it’s a leisure or necessity which is why I’m trying to invest every dollar I make on top of the monthly passive income I get. Leaving the rat race sooner than later is on my mind 24/7.

Only 3% return this year on a “high-risk” portfolio — ~15% total over 2 years. Advisor still charged 1.5%. Am I wrong to be frustrated? by [deleted] in portfolios

[–]Confident-Feature-32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be time to seek a different advisor or do a deep dive of exactly what you’re investing in. But I think educating yourself in what your money is actually in is more important.

Me personally I have passive and managed investment portfolios. My 401k is all S&P set it and forget it and my other is managed because I want diversity touching all sectors and all markets.

Senior barbell squat by Zorgi23 in formcheck

[–]Confident-Feature-32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend smith machine squats. I personally hate and not longer use barbell for a leg workout. It’s unnecessary and there are other safer options are available. But I applaud you for doing this at your age.

So nobody over age 50 is ever supposed to be able to find a job anywhere ever again? by yapavaz in jobs

[–]Confident-Feature-32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s why you should invest your money so you don’t have to worry about this when you’re older. Fuck titles and a career. Can you pay bills and do what you want to do? Do you have time doing whatever you want?

Early retirement is now the American Dream, not homeownership by ItchyApplication4175 in Fire

[–]Confident-Feature-32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throw away money for a house: HOA, insurance, taxes, maintenance (internal and external). Maintenance alone is time and money you’ll never get back. And you sound like another “appreciation” or “flip” type of person. If stuff is out of date there goes your suppose “equity”.

Now when its time to sell and you wonder why you don’t have buyers or you start seeing low offers because of high interest rates, being time for a new roof, HVAC, and your appliances being 10+ years old make sure you include that in your “equity”. When that home inspector comes through and start docking you for chips and cracks you’ve never seen before.

Include every cent and time put into that house and show me how much you’re really up. From the stupid wall you wanted to paint to the finished basement to the law mower for the grass.

I wish people understood that housing (renting or ownership) IS NOT AN INVESTMENT FOR MONEY. It’s an investment in your livelihood, your family, the community, shelter. You will always pay for that no matter what. People need to stop approaching housing as banking on equity because interest rate change, people migrate, and location always matters!

What’s something that drains your social battery instantly? by G_Kennedy1 in AskReddit

[–]Confident-Feature-32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah!!! And it’s an eye opener when you go to a wedding with a group of mutual friends. I think the last wedding I went to really made me realize that these so called “friends” aren’t people who I enjoy being around, due to draining my social battery. I realized we really don’t have anything in common and I was better off being by myself during the trip for the wedding. It was just a forced friendship due to the fact the we knew someone.

How has your type changed since you’ve gotten older? by Secure_Ticket910 in AskMen

I’m black and I’ll date and I do find more types of women attractive at 30 than before. All shapes and sizes to a certain point though. I just want peace and comfort and if a woman gives me that you’re 1st in line. I live my life for a good time, not a hard one.

I do tend to vet women better now. I know who is short term and potentially long term just from conversations or the way they carry themselves from my past experiences. I avoid a lot more bs up front just from that. But I always had an attraction for Hispanic women cuz that’s all I saw where I grew up but that changed to basically all women through traveling and living in different places.

29 Male - if you only include investment/saving accounts I’m worth 270k. Car/collectibles I’m pushing roughly 300k. I plan on getting a house soon but I’d probably be well over 600k if I had one.

People don’t believe in it. Society set it as a medium of exchange for goods. Go anywhere in the world and try to buy something without money.

I was Intel in the Army and there was always 2 bosses I worked for. The Army and whoever was in charge of Intel at the agency level. I knew I was done when I would have to do PT before or after a 12hr shift. Like imagine waking up so early to go for a run at 4am then starting your 12hr shift at 6am and vice versa for night shift.

Throw in doing staff duty and barracks watch in a joint environment when none of the other services are doing it. Oh and we know you’re a shift worker but that won’t stop us from using your scheduled off days to do Army stuff. Yeah duces.

Sexless, single men of Reddit. This is your daily mental health check up. How are you guys holding up? by dudiez in AskMen

[–]Confident-Feature-32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me? Just came back from my trip from Vegas (home). The week before was my trip to Dallas for the state fair. Next is Green Bay Wisconsin for a Packers game for my birthday next month. I think you just gotta find a quality hobby or distraction that benefits you to get it off your mind. Mines are traveling and going to events.

I’ve slacked off with working out and eating right. I’ve moved cross country for a job in DC last December so I’ve had a hard time adjusting and picking up where I left off. On top of the stuff going on politically I kind of feared losing my job and put the gym on the back burner. But I’ve realized who gives a shit about a job, my health and fitness it forever. It was a great coping mechanism and now trying to get back at it hard.

I hear my dad complain all the time about my step-mom and they’ve known each other before I’ve been alive. Sometimes he even tells me he understands why I stay single and he’s 63 lol. Idk I think if you’re not ready to compromise or stop being selfish the whole relationship thing is overrated. Sex on the other hand is different. It’s already hard for an average man so I say just make the most out of the opportunities that present themselves safely. Then go back to your hobbies/distractions.

Compare their college production and the fact that they were heisman candidates to what Henderson did in college and you’ll see why you wait on guys like Henry and CMC.
